The student who sustained a bloody head wound as he was arrested by alcohol control officers at the University of Virginia on Wednesday morning “could easily have been any of us, including a young President Obama”, a university official told the Guardian.
Martese Johnson, 20, was seen pouring blood on to the sidewalk as three enforcement agents pinned him down to arrest him, prompting outrage on campus and all the way to the office of Virginia governor Terry McAuliffe, who asked for a state police investigation, which began on Wednesday.
The student’s mother and brother were flown in from the family’s hometown of Chicago on Wednesday to be with Johnson, who was given 10 stitches in his head in hospital after being arrested for obstructing justice and being drunk in public.
But the handsome African American student with a place on the UVA honor committee put Dr Maurice Apprey, the UVA dean of African American Affairs, in mind of a similar young man from Chicago who studied at Columbia and Harvard universities in the 80s: Barack Obama.

I’m a U.Va. alumni. I got an email from the President of the University letting me know that the University will be investigating the incident.
It sounds to me some undergrad went to The Corner (the bars across the street from campus) to get drunk on St. Patrick’s Day, got drunk, got belligerent, and got caught without a license. So he pulled out the race card.

I had forgotten about that scar.
I saw his face after they wiped the blood off. He only had an abrasion about the size of a quarter and a couple of other minor scrapes.
Cuts on the face can bleed really fast especially if you are really exerting.
I had a small skin cancer taken off the side of my forehead. It bled like crazy. I could feel it running down my neck. After the stitches were in, it quit. I actually bled from that small incision more than he is bleeding.

I have no idea why they did not charge him with resisting with force because he was. I have no idea why they charged him with cursing the cops as that is not even illegal in Florida.
I think originally they arrested him for underage drinking and lying about his age. I noticed last week that cops in Panama City Beach have made a thousand arrests for underage drinking so it happens.

Without an Assault or Resisting Arrest charge, the cops are going to have tough time explaining their actions.

I was taught early on to say a few things to cops when I am caught “ Yes sir, no sir, sorry sir, I didn’t do that/won’t do that again, sir”
