Days after vowing not to establish a Palestinian state, Netanyahu says something else in his first post-election interview.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has retracted his pre-election statements, according to which he would not allow a Palestinian state to be established.
"I don't want a one-state solution. I want a sustainable, peaceful two-state solution," Netanyahu said Thursday in an interview with MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. "I haven't changed my policy."
Netanyahu said his earlier comments were a reflection of changing conditions on the Palestinian side, pointing to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's pact to form a unity government with Hamas, which Israel, the U.S. and most European countries consider a terrorist organization.
"I'm talking about what is achievable and what is not achievable," Netanyahu said Thursday, insisting that he would support a demilitarized Palestinian state under a plan that would ensure Israel's security.

But the “real story” here is that there is NO FLIP-FLOPPING going on here. This is long-standing policy for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in backing the Two-State Solution ... for YEARS!

Israel has long supported a state for Palestinians OUTSIDE of Israel, it was always the Pallies who rejected the responsibility of actual governance

I support Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu 100% in what he does and in his policies. I have supported him from back in the Clinton a Days, even when he has had to adjust to the changing circumstances in Israel and the outside forces, in order to keep Israel safe and secure.
All the voters of Israel should be EXTREMELY PROUD in having such a leader as Netanyahu. He is the BEST Israel can have for a time such as this!!
Hey, you’re probably right. But going after amorphous groups of individuals somehow seems more difficult and less productive than seeking out and destroying a central power.
Maybe nuking Mecca and vaporizing the Ka’aba, effectively ending Islam, is a better idea.
Bibi knows that (1) the Palis will not agree to recognize Israel’s right to exist and (2) even if they did so, they are Muslims and never to be trusted due to the policy of taqiyya. IOW, the conditions he set can never be met.
He might as well say, “As soon as the PLO renews its mandate by holding elections, and I understand there are plenty of Democrat-sponsored political scientists deployed here in the country, we can get back to our discussions.”

My late husband was an infantry officer in Korea, AND from Iowa. He suffered terribly from PTSD and when our son was becoming a teenager his guilt was very high. Although he was a blue-eyed redhead, by husband was part Cree Indian, and I had some Asian tartar from my Prussian ancestors. Our son had a slightly Asian look with very dark hair and dark eyes. One night when he was feeling especially bad, he (my husband) broke down and cried over and over again, I killed somebody’s son. He had bayoneted a young (teen) Chinese soldier. He vividly remembered the near defeat and terrible struggle to regain ground in “those ugly brown hills” of Korea.
As for Putin he says he is currently supporting Iraq. He may not want a too strong Iran on his southern border, so he might indeed find some way to be supportive of Israel. Any further word on his health or gas pipeline plans?
I think the most important issue with McArthur was that he wanted to cross the Yalu River into China. The fear was that this would bring in a far larger Chinese military presence. We had to make the battle cost enough so that China would decide on an acceptable peace, but not so costly that they needed revenge to save face. Given that my son has almost 20 years in the Army and Special Forces, I tend to read and think a lot about military history and tactics. Please remember that Truman had the guts to drop the BOMB, without which horror we probably would have had a subsequent nuclear war, probably with Russia.

I was nine years younger than my husband, so my memories may be a little off. Is Encheon the same as Inchon that my husband used to talk about? I believe that was our initial difficult landing. He also used to talk about something that I remember as Chorwan Reservoir. ON a lighter note, his first sentence learned in Korean was: “Pick it up and put it over there.”
