Republicans try end-run around spending caps
Politico ^ | March 17, 2015 | David Rogers

The great Achilles heel in the House Republican budget Tuesday can be found in a blue-and-white chart, tucked away on page 40 and mapping out a 10-year path for the annual appropriations bills that keep the government operating. On the surface, it appears to keep faith with the spirit of the discretionary spending caps under the 2011 Budget Control Act, a major priority for many fiscal conservatives. But to get the votes of party hawks, the budget makes a sweeping end-run around the caps by declaring an additional $94 billion as emergency spending for the war against terrorism.

The only thing that matters is that the public fights amongst themselves. Keep our anger directed at each other, meanwhile, the political class is robbing us blind, and destroying our country.

The purpose of Politico is to keep Republicans fighting each other and ignoring the Obama takeover of the USA. Ignore Politico, fight Obama!

Should we ignore all these as well? And there are plenty more.

Merely following in the footsteps of that great conservative President George W. Bush who doubled the total federal deficit accumulated since the founding in just 8 years. The Bush administration loved using “supplemental” appropriations in order to avoid including the $1 trillion spent on the Iraq War in the annual budget.

Neither party can be trusted with the people’s money.

"Should we ignore all these as well?"

The only enemy is Obama. We must fight no one but him. Leave the others until after Obama is defeated.

Ok, I am curious. I thought we did fight, we sent an overwhelming message in November that we did not approve of what Obama is doing. It seems the people we sent are only surrogates for Pelosi, and Reid. Just how do we fight Obama? It is real easy to say, but I don’t see how we can fight if we are going to send losers to do our bidding.

"I thought we did fight, we sent an overwhelming message in November"

We sent a great message. It was not overwhelming. Overwhelming would be a 2/3 majority in the Senate. We didn't even get a filibuster proof majority.

How do we fight Obama? First, stop fighting Republicans. They are the only ones in Washington that might possibly be on our side. Second, Don't go to war on issues we can't win. Remember, we don't even have even a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. Crying about RINOs doesn't pass laws. Third, fight the battles that can be won, and then all pull together.

The same Republicans that just allowed Lynch out of committee, but will turn around to vote ‘NO’ on the floor (where that vote WON’T matter)? Or, the ‘fighters’ on the debt, the illegal amnesty, the...THOSE Republicans? The same, when they HAD Congress and the W.H., increased the total debt 100% and gave us DHS, NCLB, and the Patriot Act??

If that’s ‘on your side’, I’d hate to see your enemies.

I am so tired of all those excuses. It has been over four years, and you are going to tell me there hasn’t been a battle the Republicans could win? If the only battles we can win are raising spending, and surrendering constitutional authority, why do we need a Republican Party, the Democrats can do that just fine.

“We have to pick battles we can win” Please explain how we can’t win battles unless everything is stacked in our favor, and yet the Democrats continue to win after losing both houses? And they are winning on issues the public doesn’t agree with them. The Republicans don’t try to win. They start every fight telling the Democrats where the line is they won’t cross. As soon as they try to sound tough, members are on all the talk shows criticising each other.

These platitudes are nice, but at some point, it is time to stop hiding behind excuses. I honestly think if the Republicans were to actually show some spine, they would find overwhelming support, but the leaders are more interested in politics as usual, and we can’t fight Obama, until we clean our own ranks.

Did you even read the article? The money quote from it is: "the budget claims an extra $372 billion in deficit reduction while allowing defense to grow by $387 billion above the caps. Nondefense is the big loser, forced to absorb a further cut of $759 billion, or 14 percent"

Leftist Politico is obviously whining and crying about the Republicans pulling a fast one by cutting the budget while simultaneously adding to the defense budget. Yet, all you can do is whine and cry, yourself, about Republicans. I simply will have nothing more to do with you.

I suppose that is for the best if you can’t answer any of my very simple questions.
