EXCLUSIVE: UNION OFFICIAL SAYS ‘CORPORATE GREED’ BEHIND PUSH FOR H-1B VISAS
Breitbart ^ | March 16, 2015 | by ADELLE NAZARIAN

A so-called “war on the American worker” has intensified in the Golden State.

Massive layoffs are being spearheaded by the multi-billion dollar Southern California Edison utilities company, which is terminating scores of American IT workers and replacing them with immigrant IT workers, from a slew of foreign counties, who are willing to work for far less compensation. These immigrants are in the U.S. on an H-1B visa program.

“We don’t need foreign workers. We have plenty of Americans who are fully capable and equipped to carry out these jobs. It’s an absolute issue of corporate greed; nothing more nothing less,” former Edison employee and Marine Pat Lavin told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview late last week.

Lavin is a stalwart Democrat who serves as a business manager and financial secretary for the the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #47. “Edison are master liars,” Lavin cautioned, quipping that he “caught them telling the truth last week and they tried to lie their way out of it.”

Lavin spoke with Breitbart News as one of the California Edison workers laid off in the scandal that Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) have hammered the company for. Grassley called the layoffs “heartless” and Issa argued that this appears to be an abuse of the program.

America is facing a surplus of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workers who are unemployed or have been laid off from work due to companies, like SoCal Edison, that have been outsourcing American jobs to immigrants. According to an article from Robert Charette in IEEE Spectrum, the so-called “STEM Crisis”—where tech leaders like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who claim they need to import cheap foreign labor—is a “myth.”

Circa 2012, Sen Charles Grassley (Repub-Iowa) exposed the DHS-USCIS visa program--Sen Grassley said ICE identified key vulnerabilities in EB-5 visas:

1) Export of sensitive technology/economic espionage.

2) Use by foreign government agents/espionage.

3) Use by terrorists.

4) Investment fraud by regional center.

5) Investment fraud by investors.

6) Fraud conspiracies by investors and regional center.

7) Illicit finance/money laundering.

Obama's hand-picked henchman, USCIS' Leon Rodrigues, oversees EB-5 visas. Under Obama/Rodrigues' purview---EB-5's are said to involve major threats to US national security:

There are other ways.

“I consider it the act of a treasonous individual to put U. S. Citizen out of work, simply to make a bigger profit.”

My point exactly.

Too may states have caved to the unions, and are still fighting “Right to work” laws. I believe unions were necessary at one time, but now, not so much.

Too many people in this country are uneducated when it come to laws that govern employment. Until this is rectified, we will be subject to a$$holes in the White House, as well as local legislators.

Start a movement and educate the masses.

Absolutely 100% wrong. I have seen too many IT companies that have HQs other than America use the position in an American company as a revolving door. The company doesn’t want one person for the job, they want the position so they can fill it with many different people. I have seen first hand how you state that these “workers are trained better, trained by their home country”. I worked at one of the top corps in the country and world. There were like 1 or 2 that a team of 15 went to. One of them told me all he does was copy and paste his work. Another I had to spend hours every day and he was supposedly better trained than me who couldn’t even write a simple DML statement in SQL. I was constantly going over his work correcting it. So tell me how these foreign IT workers are better trained. American positions are nothing more than revolving doors in order that they can send money back to their country.

Better ratchet up the volume, Mr Union Boss. There’s not much time before Obama overruns us all with dirt poor, illiterate cheap labor.

Those few politicians who believe in securing the border, will call for increased immigration as a way of softening or sweetening what they think is a hard-to-sell immigration policy.

But, no. With record high numbers of Americans out of work, they should be reducing the numbers of immigrants, especially including H1B.

Give the immigrants already here time to assimilate, and wait until we have an honest unemployment rate well below 5%. Aside from a few special cases, only in a full employment economy should we allow anyone to immigrate.

What’s Ironic is the amount of online IT schools that popped up recently for software developers by foreigners. They don’t take Americans usually. Its usually a front for foreign IT workers to come to America under the guise of a student visa.I have applied to a lot of them. They usually have an address in NJ or PA. I once spoke to a company in Atlanta that would only pay 1200 per month and you had to relocate any where they sent you. That was all you were paid for 18 months. The “bootcamp” was only 8 weeks for 10K.

This business of importing cheap labor and exporting customer service jobs overseas could be stopped by Congress, and SHOULD be stopped by Congress.

Penalize corporations via the tax code to the point where it costs more to engage in this practice than it does to employ an American.

Customer service jobs in particular could be great way to increase employment as stay at home moms, the elderly, and welfare cases could perform this work from their houses with today’s technology.

Instead hundreds of thousands of people in India and the Philippines are doing customer service for corporations like ATT and American Express.

There is no IT job that cannot be learned through on the job training.

NOT A SINGLE FOREIGNER SHOULD TAKE AN AMERICAN JOB.

So there shouldn’t be the visas or should corporate america not be greedy?

I don't think either one is going to happen.

You voted for change, now accept it.

The problem existed long before Obama and it'll probably continue long after he's gone.

Push for the repeal of the 1965 Immigration Act and the removal of all the ‘alphabet soup’ guest worker programs that it enabled.

Then watch who tries to defend its existence when given evidence of unchecked (and uncheckable) fraud.

Unions are pissed because they can’t sign up the H1B visa holders as easy as they can with the illegals. The SEIU and like LOVE the illegals.

AMERICA is being pulled in far TOO MANY different directions simultaneously to be able to GO in the ONE direction that truly SERVES ALL Americans.

It's become a DIVISIVE America NOT a UNITED America.

Without LEADERSHIP we're momentarily SCREWED.
