I probably ate as much venison cooked over an open fire as on a stove, and I didn't need exhaust fans and doo-dads. Sometimes, it was just impaled on a stick. (and that is just one type of meat).
Obviously, these people have too much time on their hands, which makes them hammers in search of a nail.
And the new EPA approved BBQ grill will look surprisingly just like an electric stove and frying pan. Yum Yum NOT!
