ISIS is extremist and conservative. In fact, they’re so conservative they want to return to the 7th century!
Obviously, what they want to conserve is very different from what American conservatives want to conserve.
Here’s the problem: Leftists around the world want much the same things. Conservatives around the world vary wildly by culture and society, with their only real commonality being opposition to Leftists.
In fact, it’s not unreasonable, IMO, to refer to the opponents of Gorbachev or Teng Tsaoping as conservatives. They wanted to conserve their traditional way of life based on communism. Commies can be conservative, too.
We will have front row seats to the biggest resorting in over 2,000 years.
