HILLARY MILHOUS CLINTON

Hillary has become who she once despised.

I think she was 27 then, a young lawyer, briefly brought on as a staffer for a House committee tasked to write up articles of impeachment.

Like many young progressives of her generation, the demon before her was Richard Nixon. He was the first hated president of the modern era, and he deserved it.

Brilliant in his way, he was also imperious, superior and arrogant. So convinced of his own infallibility that he believed the rules didn’t apply to him.

He became secretive, and in time made keeping the public and the press and the Congress away from his records – audio tapes of his office – such a priority that he fixated and soured and brought down his presidency, doing great damage to the nation and its people.

Yesterday, before the reporters at the United Nations, that’s who Hillary Clinton had become.

Standing there, she was Richard Nixon.

Her demeanor, tone, and arrogance were classic. HRC 2015 is RMN 1974.

The issue is her handling of email during her tenure as secretary of State. Instead of using a government system, she set one up at her house, and moved all her electronic communication to it. This gave her total control of every document she touched and removed all transparency, accountability or oversight from her actions.

Just like Nixon.

And she defended it.

Just like Nixon.

Just as he piously intoned that Americans have a right to know that their president is not a crook, she earnestly assured the world that she had not deleted smoking guns from her private email server.

And they could rest assured that that was the case because she said it was.

The problem is, he was a crook and we couldn’t believe a word he said, and she might not be any better.

Either way, in a constitutional Republic of checks and balances, in which no man is a law unto himself, we don’t accept “trust me” as the final word. We have checks and double checks, we have federal practices and procedures.

And we have common sense.

And Hillary shunned them all.

She has sanitized her entire tenure as secretary of State, a period in which American international interests suffered some of their worst reversals of the past 70 years. As the senior member of a president’s cabinet, she created a situation in which her official correspondence avoided congressional and public scrutiny.

Just like Nixon.

And, like Nixon, she hid behind facile lies. Small tricks of phrasing and rhetoric that were intended to divert and deceive.

Like her reference to two phones.

She said that she used one email system because she didn’t want to carry two phones.

It is an assertion deception in two ways.

The overwhelming majority of public officials use one system – the government system, through which they also make personal communications.

Using one system does not necessitate using a private system.

Nor does using two systems necessitate using two phones.

It was stunning to hear her repeated claim that two systems would need “two devices.” Throughout her tenure as secretary of State, I used one phone to access two email systems – just like untold millions of other Americans.

Just like Hillary could have done.

Further, in reference to security, she said that her privately owned server – beyond the reach of oversight and accountability – was “protected by the Secret Service.”

That is very Tricky Dick.

Yes, it is true, but it is also deceptive.

Yes, the server is on property protected by the Secret Service – it is at her home. The Secret Service protects the computer from intruders who would barge into the home and steal it. But the Secret Service does nothing to protect it from hacking or cyber attack.

By being outside the government computer system, she was also outside its firewall protection.

And if she believes that her system was not compromised on a regular basis, she’s nuts.

The ironic thing is that with Hillary’s selective and arbitrary deletions of her emails – carried out over two years – the only place to get a complete set of what she wrote is from the intelligence services of China and Russia.

President Obama may not have known of Hillary’s email setup, but you can bet President Putin did.

Hey, Putin, could you have Snowden send us a copy of Hillary’s emails?

With the thousands of attempted penetrations of government networks each day, mostly from China, it is certain that the unprotected emails of the secretary of State were an appealing and attainable target.

She exposed the communications of one of the highest officers of our government to foreign surveillance because she thought the rules didn’t apply to her, because she thought oversight and accountability were for others.

And now she says we needn’t worry because she has reviewed her emails and turned over everything she wants us to have.

Everything she hasn’t destroyed.

Just like Nixon.

He had tapes, she has emails.

She has become who she once despised.

Okay, so I would love to see a meme with Hillary at her press conference and Nixon or Nixon’s ghost looking in the background. Maybe even a huge black and white of Nixon’s face, the size of the background, looking over her shoulder? With the “I am not a CROOK!” text. Anyone?...

Before Bush 2, it was Bush 1. Before Bush 1 it was Nixon. Before Nixon it was Hoover. Every generation of leftists has to create a straw demon to vilify for the Low Info Voters to revile....................

I remember Nixon as a pretty decent President and although a bit quirky in some ways (he wore his black dress shoes to the beach) he was a loyal and patriotic American and a pretty honorable man. However, he was brought down by the unnecessary campaign exploits and subsequent coverups of his staff, which he belatedly and loyally also tried to cover up. It was relatively minor stuff, but his ham-fistedness and the malignant Liberal political climate in Washington turned it into a major problem.

Then there was the hostile Liberal new media, baying at his heels and the Democrats, whose main goal in life was to sabotage the Vietnam War effort. The Liberals also hated him because he was a staunch anti-Communist and was a key figure in exposing massive Communist espionage in the government during the Alger Hiss and Whittaker Chambers affair when Nixon was in Congress.

It is an entirely different situation today and hardly analogous at all. I think Bob Lonsberry (whom I usually admire) is too young to remember what really went on and is getting his facts from revisionist history. He is being far too kind to Hillary and far too critical of Nixon by equating what Nixon did compared to Her Heinous.

Hillary was, and still is, concealing the fact that she accomplished nothing positive and left the world in a far more dangerous position.

... the only place to get a complete set of what she wrote is from the intelligence services of China and Russia.

The Mossad might also have a copy of everything on the Clintons' server. The problem, of course, is that neither Israeli intelligence, nor China nor Russia, nor some freelance hackers in some third world backwater, have any reason to be interested in turning the files over to US investigators. They would be far more valuable as fodder for bribery if Hillary's career continues to advance toward the White House. Israel, for example, might well think the the files, to the extent that they reveal criminality (which I strongly suspect they do), would be invaluable in 2018 or so if a President Hillary is balking at selling Israel some critical military hardware, or threatening aid reductions if they don't curtail settlement activity. China, Russia, and other nations might similarly view the files as critical bargaining chips in future negotiations with a Hillary Clinton administration.

Gritty, I agree with your analysis. He was one of my favorite presidents. He was, however, kind of a social klutz who seemed uncomfortable with real day to day people. He wasn’t the guy you’d sit down with and have a beer. He was a very effective president who loved his country.

Nixon was an angel compared to the Clinton gang and the Obama thugs currently ruling us. At least Nixon loved the country, but when he exposed commies the MSM vowed to take him down.
