It is the fate of democracies that value multiculturalism and diversity rather than assimilation. Non-Hispanic whites made themselves into the minority. We bring in 1.1 million legal permanent immigrants a year, 87% of whom are minorities as classified by the USG. Moreover, we reinforce their minority identity by providing special rights and privileges like affirmative action and minority business set asides. Why should some immigrant from Mexico, Haiti, or China be given preferences over a white from Appalachia?
