Teachers fear for their lives because of administration's hands off blacks guidelines

President Obama didn’t dare mention the situation at Richmond, Virginia’s Martin Luther King Middle School during his oh-so-eloquent Selma speech last Saturday. The mess at MLK is being played out in majority black schools across the country.

On March 6 an NBC affiliate reported MLK, a school with 731 students and 99% black, had 1635 disorderly incidents in 2014. The kicker? The $40 million dollar state-of-the-art middle school opened in January of the same year.

The writing was on the wall in May, 2014 when teachers at MLK wrote an extensive email to a local TV station saying they feared for their lives. Teachers claimed the school was not safe for teachers or students and administrators were turning a blind eye to their concerns.

From NBC12 May 14, 2014:

"We come every day to a hostile environment," said the teacher. "The message is we need something to be done. We cannot go on with the status quo."

The teacher says even attempting to write up students leads to threats from the teens.

"Snitches get stitches threats," said the teacher. "I'm going to slap you, or I'm going to hit you, or I can't wait to fight you."

"We really can't teach until the behavior issues are controlled," said the teacher.

The teachers claim, "the administration made a rule that prevents students from being removed from class, no matter how disruptive or disrespectful the students may be.

Last Friday, a day before the Obama family walked across the Edmund Pettus bridge in Selma in what the president described as ‘living history,” NBC 12’s Laura Gellar updated the station’s six-month investigation into MLK

The Negro population is becoming Palestinians and we have our own Gaza in every large city and some of the smaller ones.

“teachers at MLK wrote an extensive email to a local TV station saying they feared for their lives.”

Those teachers are racist for saying they fear for their lives. /S/

Seriously, this is what comes of out of control kids, and I don’t care what anybody says, it all starts at home.

“While POTUS’s own daughters attend a prestigious majority-white school where deportment and discipline prevail, Obama and his attorney general make sure teachers and principals in inner-city, predominantly black schools are held hostage by impulsive, lawless, and fatherless thugs.”

Today’s money quote. My tax $$ go to support these day-care centers.

Obummer and Holder don’t have the courage to have an honest debate on race.

And the young people are out of control because they grew up in fatherless homes.

Agreed but it isn’t just them that fear an honest discussion on race.

The simple way to cut black crime, according to Holder and Obama, is to just ignore it and move on. Black teachers must not matter any more than any other black person assaulted or murdered by a black person.

The teachers claim, "the administration made a rule that prevents students from being removed from class, no matter how disruptive or disrespectful the students may be.

That's where it's heading in L.A., too, with Hispanic students. I mean, you can send them out, but the counselor just "talks to them," files a report, notifies their (utterly indifferent or incompetent) parents, and sends the child strutting triumphantly back to your classroom 15 minutes later to pick up where he left off.

In my sheltered class, I can do almost nothing. The good kids in there just have to struggle through the worksheets because I cannot give directions without being shouted down, cannot spend time with any one student without the others starting to wrestle or throw things... it's a nightmare.

My only consolation is that by having all the thugs in one class, my Honors class (38 of the nicest kids you'll ever meet) can come in, sit down, and read a novel with me. But that one class is just a heart attack waiting to happen. And it's getting worse.

This was a personal observation:

Under new guidelines that were passed to improve education, there have been some unintended consequences. The demand for a very high percentage of daily attendance means administrations are now encouraging trouble makers to come to school rather than being okay with them not showing up. Another factor is the effort to boost the percentage who are graduating. Some schools are letting youngsters get away with more so they won't drop out.

What's the solution? Vocational training after completion of Grade 10....just like in the old days.

Obama's latest initiative, free community college education, will serve to keep the pumks on the education gravy train for two more years, and ruin any function the community colleges used to serve.

What do Obama and mega church black preachers have in common? They take their congregations and supporters for everything they have. They preach one thing and then go live something else entirely, most often a luxurious life that never includes seeing a poor black person except when they want more money or votes.

I’ll wager that MOST of the teachers are themselves, black.

fwiw...one school I went to in my former adventures in inner city substituting dealt with Hispanic discipline problems in their own way. I sent a 7th grader out for totally disruptive and aggressive behavior. His adjustment counselor made an appointment with me in my free period to educate me about how to adjust to Hispanics in the classroom.

I never did return to that school.

Over 70% of these black children are born to single mothers and have no fathers in their lives. These are the kids Obama is counting on to change the face of the USA.

To get a handle on racism and crime in the US will require the black community getting a handle of this unruly population. Only the black leaders, political and religious, can do it, not the government.

Yup. Teachers in such situations don’t really teach. Instead they manage (to varying degrees of success) classrooms.

My sister is an elementary school teacher. She loves it. Very talented, dedicate, always highly rated to the point where parents of students request their kids be placed in her class.

However, she teaches in a private school, having given up on the public schools after a few years of utter hell being caught between disrespectful kids, a callous school administration, and parents who were either completely disengaged or confrontational in blaming her for their kids bad behavior.

And this at the ELEMENTARY (2nd and 3rd grade) level. It got so bad (kids threatening her) before her switch to the private school that my wife and I were working on lining her up with a good corporate education gig (which is sort of like teaching 3rd graders) and telling her to be ready to submit a no-notice resignation when she got an offer.
