Colin Powell Still Sees 'Dark Vein' of Intolerance in GOP

Speaking on the day following the 50-year anniversary of "Bloody Sunday" in Selma, Alabama, the first African-American Secretary of State Colin Powell said he still sees a "dark vein" of intolerance in the Republican Party, echoing comments that he made in 2013.

"I still see it. I still see it in the Republican Party and I still see it in other parts of our country. You don't have to be a Republican to be touched by this dark vein," Powell told ABC's George Stephanopoulos Sunday on "This Week."

It would be my guess that if blacks had behaved like everybody else and reached out for their part of the American Dream like everyone else over the last 50 years, they would be “just like everybody else” at this point...

Sadly, they have not.

...and which Republicans has he raised money for. I guess he’s welcome to call himself what he wants to...but that doesn’t make it any more true than me being Mother Teresa.

By the way, did he dress in WHITE FACE every day when he was in the military...because in his version of America, he should still be in the infantry.

If he means intolerant of fools, socialism and institutionalized racism, then yes it is indeed there.

But it is not dark, it is a light in the darkness.

I see a bright vein of entitlement and disdain for America in so called progressives.

50 years of listening to this crap has numbed me to it.
It is endless.
No matter what America, taxpayers or the government do for blacks it is never enough.
And it will never be enough.

Now their whining and carping is just an irritating background noise that never goes away - like traffic on a distant highway.

Black whining and demands are like a bad bearing in a machine that never stops grinding no matter how much oil you put on it.

Powell sees himself being smacked around by Clintonistas who are using him to justify Hillary’s off the government e-mails. He thinks the way to fight back is to ingratiate with the leftist press who love a good pseudo-Republican food fight.

[Powell: “And we have to change the hearts and minds of Americans. And I see progress, especially in the younger generation.”]

The engine of change moves at a pace measured in human generations. A hundred years after the Civil War there was Selma and the Civil Rights Act. Fifty years after Selma there is a black U.S. president, a black attorney general and a black former secretary of state bitching and moaning from their chauffeur driven limousines.

Instead of Colin Powell we should call him Colon Powell because he is such a pain in the @$$. This Bush family aparatchnik supported Obama the Black Racist for President. He shouldn’t be lecturing other people On racism. Hypocritical ingrate.

He was able to benefit from being of color for all of his professional career, and he quite possibly could have been president, too. Why is he complaining?

Colin Powell is a POS when it comes to the race card and baiting. Guess he doesn’t see how Tim Scott, Alan West, Ben Carson, Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, Mia Love and many more are treated by his left leaning friends.

He is more of a racist than 90% of the GOP.

Colon Powell owes the positions he rose to specifically to Ronald Reagan and both Bushes, all Republicans. What an ungrateful jerk, but then again, he’s had his head planted up Obama’s backside for the last seven years.

(Powell): "And we have to change the hearts and MINDS of Americans...."....yadda, yadda.

(Obama): "We are five days away from fundamentally TRANSFORMING the United States of American...."....yadda, yadda.

Have you noticed that the same fascist imperatives run through their dialogue every time these mind-Nazis open their mouths?

Watch carefully what they insert in their speeches and statements....these would-be dictators will never let you down.

“I sat around all day and thought of ways to oppress Americans of African descent. Then, I realized the Democrat Party is already doing that, so I listened to some Louis Armstrong instead.”

Thank you for that!

Always equated Bloody Sunday with Northern Ireland and certainly not Selma.

As for Powell, well he is just another idiot in the long line of them pretending to be republicans.

Exactly why is this clown and his voice relevant and if it were not Bush and the GOP he would be no where near what he is.

You got that one right. I’ve never had any respect for Colin Powell simply because when George W. Bush was running the first time in 2000, Colin Powell was asked on one of the morning shoes, would he serve in a Bush Administration, of course he said yes, then he was asked if he would serve in an Al Gore Administration, and you bet he would. So I ask you where was ANY LOYALITY? Colin Powell is a perfumed prince and an opportunist individual. Colin Powell would have never made General if it weren’t for H. W. Bush. Bush 41 gave Powell that rank.
