Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) suggested Saturday that the Justice Departments criminal corruption charges against Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) are political retribution against the New Jersey Democrat for opposing the White Houses negotiations with Iran.
Cruz made the allegations to a throng of reporters jammed into the corner of a tent outside the Iowa Ag Summit in Des Moines without even having been asked about the Menendez criminal charges.
The announcement this week by the Justice Department that they were bringing charges against Bob Menendez I will point out that the timing seems awfully coincidental that
in the very week that Bob Menendez showed incredible courage to speak out and call out President Obama for the damage that his policy is doing to our national security
the Justice Department announces theyre moving forward with the criminal prosecution, Cruz said.
It raises the suggestion to other Democrats that if you dare part from the Obama White House, that criminal prosecutions will be used potentially as a political weapon against you as well, he added.
Menendez has been a vocal critic of the White House as the Obama administration has sought to wrap up delicate talks with Iranian leaders over the future of their nuclear program.
The issue came to a head on Capitol Hill last week when Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu rebuked the Obama administration in front of Congress for its strategy on Iran.
On Friday, news broke that the Justice Department was preparing to bring criminal charges against Menendez.
The timing is curious, Cruz continued. This investigation has been going on for over a year and yet the very week they announce a pending indictment comes within hours after Sen. Menendez showing courage to speak out against President Obamas dangerous foreign policy that is risking the national security of this country.

NOT probing Menendez previously was also politically motivated.

I agree; I don’t know much about Menendez except on Iran and Cuba he’s right. These people say all this other stuff but perhaps they’ve been trying to tar him from long ago. And listening to him speak, he is right on Cuba and he may well survive this.

Menendez still backed off the Iran deal for 2 months while Zero and his team worked on it. No word from him on an even worse deal after he stood down.
Pathetic
Man up Menendez.

It's a carny act, and we're the rubes.

No Democrat will return the favor when Cruz is unfairly attacked.
Not even Menendez.

Yes, it can be used for blackmail, and if the subject still doesn’t play ball, then you blow him up with it.
This is what they did with Petraeus, blackmailed him until he opposed them on Benghazi, then they blew him up with it.

Of course it’s politically motivated, clearly so. This is a
direct Bitch Slap to Menendez for ‘mouthing off’ about Obama’s lousy, stupid, dangerous Iran policy in the making.
Obola is reminding me of other world leaders moreso everyday. Leaders such as Mugabe, Idi Amin and Kim Jun Un for three examples. Petty, plastic and thin-skinned.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) suggested Saturday that the Justice Departments criminal corruption charges against Sen. They started the investigation a week ago and are ready to indict now. Sure.

In this instance, I think Ted Cruz is flashing his Hispanic Brethren Card vs his Republican Card.

This would be to the regime’s mind, treason. No dissent is allowed when it comes to fascists.

Of course it is politically motivated. Everything from this White House is politically motivated.
Menendez is a Democrat.
Democrats don’t get prosecuted unless they cross the regime.
Menendez crossed them.
He is a Jersey politician, which may be the only type that could beat a Chicago pol.
He happens to be right about Iran and Cuba, but I still bet he has been taking bribes. The only reason he’s being prosecuted is because he publicly disagreed with Dear Reader.

I don’t think so. Menendez was vociferous against this Iranian deal, and Cruz is dead set against it as well.
You take support where you find it.

That is the unvarnished truth.
