Not-So-Favorite Son? Scott Walker Catches Jeb Bush in Florida in 2016 Poll
Sunshine State News ^ | March 5, 2015 | Kevin Derby

“Rubio is popular, but in his home state he is taking a back seat to Bush vs. Walker,” Kaplan said. “Even among Hispanics, Bush takes 24 percent, Walker 23 percent and Rubio, a Cuban-American, comes in third with 11 percent -- roughly his same level of support across the state’s Republicans in an open field.”

A new poll shows Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is running in a dead heat with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the Sunshine State as the 2016 presidential race looms.

Gravis Marketing released its poll of Florida Republicans this week, which finds Bush ahead with 23 percent but Walker right on his heels with 22 percent. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., places third with 11 percent followed by former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., with 10 percent. Huckabee moved to Florida after his 2008 presidential bid.

Dr. Ben Carson, who also moved to Florida recently, placed fifth with 8 percent. Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., takes 6 percent followed by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. Two Texas Republicans lag behind: U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz takes 2 percent while former Gov. Rick Perry pulls 1 percent. An eighth of those surveyed -- 12 percent -- remain undecided.

Doug Kaplan, the managing partner of Gravis Insights, said he expected the contest to come down to Bush and Walker.

“We are seeing the early stages of a two-man horse race between Bush and Walker,” Kaplan said. “Bush vs. Walker is ... inside the margin of error.”

Kaplan was not as high on Rubio’s chances, even though he ran close to Bush when the contest came down to just the two of them. In that scenario, Bush takes 40 percent while Rubio gets 36 percent.

President Barack Obama is toxic for Florida Republicans with only 16 percent of them approving of him while 79 percent disapprove of him.

The poll of 513 Florida Republicans was taken from Feb. 24-25 and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.

More people are finally learning the role Jeb played in inflicting Common Core on the Florida public school system. It's a big issue in the sunshine state right now and Jeb is paying a price. Good.

I just hope the conservatives can unite behind one another and not snipe at each other.

Yes Cruz would be fantastic. Yes Walker will be fantastic. Bush would be awful.

Let’s focus on attacking the moderates and liberals in the party.

Dear God, please keep me away from any these 16% as they are dangerous, delusional and short a few fries.

Does anyone outside of the elite inner circle even like Jeb? JMHO, but the “aw shucks” routine that worked for GWB and daddy and mommy Bushes isn’t convincing from Jeb.

Walker/Cruz is a better match. Rubio is too deep into support of the invasion of the US to redeem himself for the next election. And Cruz’s super-intellect, and debating/lawyering skills negate all arguments about Walker’s lack of a college degree (as if anyone except those who just want to use it against him cares)

Hillary won’t be the nominee. We will spend all our ammo attacking her and they will put up someone else and then say...the haters on the right said the same thing about Hillary. The old tricks from the right won’t work any longer...is what they will say.

I’m hoping Rubio hangs around just long enough to seal Jeb’s doom in the Florida Primary. If Jeb can’t win there, he can’t win anywhere. I’d love to see Cruz and Walker place #1 and #2 here. Or even #2 and #1.

If Walker become President I will finally have some hope.

I can’t believe the damage this communist monster Obama is doing to America and freedom, and the Internet(his FCC unconstitutionally passed net neutrality laws). Obama and the news media are destroying America, freedom and capitalism on purpose

I just fear this evil marxist creep Obama will not leave in 2016. what a nightmare this Obama has created for us in a once free country the USA. the Obama pos done all this damage with the help of the news media and the democrat party

I hate Obama , the news media and all democrats who voted for this cretin Obama. I can’t believe we are living in this nightmare. What these traitors have done to America, freedom, opportunity ,prosperity is the worst thing any group has ever done . Walker needs to reduce the size of government and eliminate most gov regulations on business and the new communist regulations on the Internet (get rid of these unconstitutionally passed by the FCC laws) etc. and stop the influx of 3rd world immigrants or at least halt the slide into socialism(hell).

some one wake me from this nightmare. what happened to my free market country?
