Bibi’s grand slam: Boxing in Obama on Iran’s nukes

On Tuesday, Bibi Netanyahu gave the speech of his life before a joint session of Congress — and he has Barack Obama to thank for it.

Yes, the very same Barack Obama who hates Bibi, the same Obama who was furious the speech was being given at all, walked the bases full for Netanyahu and served up the sucker pitch he hit for a grand slam.

For six weeks, the president and his team have been letting it be known just how angry they are that the leader of the House of Representatives invited the Israeli prime minister to speak about the threat from Iran.

The enraged leaks and overt hostility toward the head of state of an ally have been unprecedented.

The White House even tried to engineer a mass Democratic boycott of the speech, an effort that either (take your pick) met with success because 50 members of his party agreed to it, or was a failure because 75 percent of elected Democrats on Capitol Hill defied him and chose to attend.

What did all of this do? It made the Netanyahu speech the most important political event of 2015 by far.

“Tuesday afternoon, after Netanyahu scored his success, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced he’ll bring up a piece of legislation requiring Senate consideration of any Iran deal for 60 days.”

What I don’t get is that Congress ALREADY has the power and authority to review treaties...

Any such legislation will be withdrawn within seconds of Dear Leader’s veto threat.

The No Balls Pseudo-Conservative branch of the Republican party is really even worse that the Democrats. With them, the knife goes in the back not the front.

NY Times February 19, 2015:
“WASHINGTON — With only five weeks remaining for a basic agreement to be reached with Iran on the fate of its nuclear program, the world’s nuclear inspectors reported on Thursday that Iran was still refusing to answer their longstanding questions about suspected work on nuclear weapons and designs.”
As BiBi, in so many words, told the world and America’s LIAR of a President yesterday:
THERE CAN BE NO TRUST WITHOUT VERIFICATION..... WE DO NOT PLAN DIE BECASUE OF YOUR INCOMPETENCE!

The constitution requires all treaties to be ratified by the Senate. Any agreement between nations is required to be ratified by the Senate. But Obama will veto this legislation if passed and then he will go forward without Senate Approval. This bill would only give Obama cover for violating the constitution.

It seemed clear to me that Netanyahu was saying that Israel will proceed without us necessary: and I wouldn’t be surprised if that included nuking Iran’s nuclear labs.

To continue and expand the analogy, the next time Bibi steps up to bat he will get a beanball thrown at him; our only hope is that Obama is bad enough as a pitcher, or Bibi is smart enough as a hitter, that the beanball won’t even hit Netanyahu, much less known him out.

Obama probably wouldn’t get the analogy.

“It made the Netanyahu speech the most important political event of 2015 by far.”

Amen to that; utterly astounding that none of the gormless, feckless American media chose to cover it.

Clearly, the American media outlets - ALL OF THEM - constitute nothing more than Obama’s cheerleaders and the Ministry of Propaganda for the Democrat Party.

now possesses as much authority to discuss the issue as the leader of the free world.

I agree with Levin's take on it. Bibi is the leader of the Free World. The American POTUS has forfeited that position by his war against the Free World.

It was the second story on CBS last night with Charlie Rose as anchor. Get this, they LED with a story, I can't remember the topic, that was akin to reporting about grass growing studies - I was agast but then started laughing. Then, this moring on CBS they played some TERRIBLE parody about evil JEWS with misinformation (i.e. BiBi gave a speech to only one party in Congress) and Charlie, Nora and Gail LOVED IT. I was embarrased for them actually thinking they are newsmen.

The unfortunate thing about the media (and just about everyone else) featuring parodies of Jews is that it plays into the enormous resurgence of anti-Semitism worldwide which mirrors the case in the 1930s.

How long before the concentration camps are rebuilt...?
