Republican Introduces Bill Revoking ATF’s Power to Regulate Ammo
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 3-2-15 | AWR Hawkins

On Friday, Rep. Tom Rooney (R-FL) introduced legislation revoking the ATF’s claim of power to regulate ammunition via “armor piecing” language in the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA).

The ATF is specifically claiming the ability to regulate ammunition via the “armor piercing” language contained in the Law Enforcement Officers Protection Act, an amendment added to the GCA in 1986. Their current focus is on banning the wildly popular M855 round for AR-15 rifles.

Rooney’s bill would roll back the ATF’s powers to pre-1986 levels.

According to The Hill, Rooney’s bill “would prohibit the ATF or any other federal agency from issuing or enforcing any new restriction or prohibition on the manufacture, importation, or sale of ammunition in the United States.”

“Oh they’re afraid we might protect our homes or ourselves from being home invaded or robbed or stop a terrorist from planting a bomb... things like that”

Terrorist? Oh! You mean like officers of the Federal government! Now I get it!

Expecting a reversal of the course we’ve been on for the past hundred years is wishful thinking. Expecting it to occur as a result of some future “election” is hallucinating!

Firearms are the only objects protected by our Constitution or bill of rights.

It's arms, not firearms.

So swords, knives, etc... are also covered.

I expect everything that has been done to be undone. Period.

You don’t need to introduce a bill to stop an unlawful regulation set up by mindless idiots in a useless department that blindly follows what a tyrant request.

They should submit a bill defunding or eliminating BATF.

Neither of which would be signed but the latter sends a message on what could happen in 2016.

But the definition of armor piercing by military standards are those rounds that can penetrate armor plating on armored vehicles.

Such bullets would seem to be explicitly protected by the Second Amendment ... for the "security of a free State".

Agencies exist at the pleasure of Congress, and could be turned off tomorrow like a water spigot.

But then, that would defeat the purpose of creating them in the first place, now wouldn't it.

The whole idea was to provide Congress a mechanism for allowing defacto laws for which they bore no responsibility.

What a joke! Anybody that expects Republicans to form a spine are delusional. Obama would veto any such bill to defund, and the RINOs have already funded the rest of big government for 2015, except DHS, which Boehner will use Democrats to pass full funding.

Everybody who cares needs to write your congressman, senators, and the ATF. Multiple times! Call them too!

What’s that you say? You’re afraid your name might be added to the “list” if you write the ATF? I guarantee you that everybody on this forum is on that “list”.

What do you have to lose at this point? They want us to bitch & complain, but do nothing more. That’s how they are winning.

It’s like a DEATH WISH for the Democrats.

Every time guns are talked about they lose more seats (not that it’s doing us much good with the bunch running the House and Senate today, though).

Does this also include the president ?

Smith & Wesson’s Value is Fully Loaded

By
Spencer Jakab

March 2, 2015

Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. has been engaging in a bit of target practice recently.

In late January, less than two weeks before the end of its fiscal third quarter, the gun maker said the period would likely see stronger revenue and earnings than previously expected. Management raised revenue guidance to a range of $124 million to $126 million from an earlier view of $113 million to $118 million.

The uninitiated might guess the sales decline had something to do with regulation of firearm sales or perhaps public revulsion after a high-profile shooting. The opposite seems to be the case: People rushed out to buy guns fearing tighter gun laws were coming, moving up purchases that probably would have happened anyway.

I would say this. The founders expected we would have the most modern, up to date, military weapons of the day. That means everything up to that as well.

I see that. One thing the founders knew, bringing a spear or knife to a gunfight is folly.
