GOP group targets House conservatives on DHS fight

An outside group aligned with House GOP leadership will spend $400,000 this week to urge dozens of conservative House Republicans to vote for Department of Homeland Security funding — a new and more aggressive phase in the legislative battle among Republicans that’s consuming Capitol Hill.

The nonprofit American Action Network is airing an ad in three states — Kansas, Oklahoma and Ohio — urging Reps. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.), Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to back funding for the anti-terrorism agency. The 30-second spot will run at least 50 times in each district — on broadcast, in prime slots — Tuesday and Wednesday as the House is expected to take up a DHS funding bill.

Dear God in heaven! Do they realize they’re openly lobbying for what they openly campaigned against.

The world’s upside down.

When in hell is one of these guys that is being attacked going to go out in front of the cameras and expose this lie about DHS shutting down?

I heard two people in line at the store yacking about republicans wanting to protect our border and here they are willing to suspend all security.

Why these conservatives sit idle and let the lies be told befuddles me ...I like them but they deserve the abuse they are getting.

The history books will have large sections devoted to the GOP leadership’s fighting their base for the ability to commit political suicide.

The GOP is just awful.

This stinking trash needs to be tossed, and we now basically have a rogue president with no check on him whatsoever.

Obama can do whatever he wants.

The GOP NEVER treats the RATs as bad as members of their own party.

You just asked the question that totally mystifies me also. It is one of those concepts that is beyond human comprehension. It just about leaves me breathless.

Tim Huelskamp, Jim Bridenstine and Jim Jordan should ask Rush for some time on his show to expose this and make their case at the same time as these ads are running. They should lay responsibility for the ads squarely at the Speaker’s feet. They are not powerless.

"Do they realize they're openly lobbying for what they openly campaigned against"?

In a word: yes! You're just not supposed to notice, or at least if you do, please be polite and not bring the fact up in polite conversation.

You're just not supposed to notice:

The brazen corruption of our gov. continues a pace. It no longer matters whether we notice or not because at this point there is NOTHING we can do.

The $$$ dictates who is elected and the $$$ dictates how they will vote.

You have no role, other than to pay your taxes and STFU.

On top of everything else, they don’t even have the guts to do this openly. They do it through “an outside group” so they can feign ignorance.

And these same people will turn around and tell us we must support Jebbie in November 2016, in the name of party unity.
