Democratic Georgia Rep. David Scott said that food stamps are necessary because of Americas policy of imprisoning families.
First of all, the situation regarding employment and jobs, poverty, all of that. All of that has been structured into our economic, social policy over the last quarter-century, Scott said at Wednesdays House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing to review the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), talking about the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs before turning to the incarceration issue.
Our policy of sending so many of our young eligible fathers to prison. Millions, Scott said. Our prison population went from 300,000 in 1975 to over two million today. These are providers who are not there. This is why we have so many single female head of households. I mean, so when you look at everything we have done, weve got to correct some of these things first.
Sometimes, its not getting the right answer that matters if we dont set up the right problem to get to that right answer. And I asked this question before. Where are examples of the fraud? Where are the examples of the abuse?
I cant find any answers on that. I want somebody to tell me, where is the waste? Where is the abuse? And where is the fraud
I'm going to go out on a limb here and speculate that the men who were "sent" to prison (of course, they didn't do anything to be incarcerated, they were just "sent") were neither "providing" nor the legal head of household for their children i.e. unmarried.
I could be wrong, but I doubt it.
There’s so many bruthas in prison, they might just tip over like Guam.
So, since daddy can’t rob us directly because he is in prison, the IRS can rob us for him. Nice play.
Wow..... I think I lost a few brain cells by simply reading what this dufus had to say. The stupid—it hurts.
Know what fixes this? Term limits.
Im curious as to how many fathers, if any, went to prison for breaking a federal law which the states have never delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to make.
“I’m going to go out on a limb here and speculate that the men who were “sent” to prison (of course, they didn’t do anything to be incarcerated, they were just “sent”) were neither “providing” nor the legal head of household for their children i.e. unmarried.”
Yes, and while their “first providers” are in the slammer, these “rent-a-vagina” women have “moved on” to another “provider!” Their children’s last names are usually the same as mama, or they’ve been contrived just like a lot of the first names. You just have to feel sorry for the kids, because when they grow up, they will be just like “mom & dad.” Reparations won’t fix that problem.
“Our policy of sending so many of our young eligible fathers to prison.”
Eligible to fricking who?
Not this father of the bride.
They should make prisoners do hard labor to pay off child support.
Not in that district it won’t.
at least they got a dog.
What “providers”? What were they providing except for absence?
It would are help.
All Democrats are idiots.
We spend about $80 BILLION dollars a year on just food stamps. That’s about what Russia (the largest country on the globe) spends on their entire military. Only two countries in the world (USA and Communist China) spend more than that on defense. Getting the picture? And that doesn’t include school lunches, supplemental nutrition, WIC and other food programs.
One sure thing about jails, they reduce opportunities to make more babies needing more food stamps.
“We Need Food Stamps Because So Many Fathers Are In Jail”
Well, THAT is certainly circular reasoning. By blowing up the stable family structure that existed among the minority families in this country, through various New Frontier and Great Society programs, the steady climb of those who had once been in the underclass, and moving up to better economic position, had been interrupted, and a new cycle of perpetual poverty was piled upon an already unequal struggle, but a struggle that used to lead to success.
When newly hatched turtles begin their trek to the sea, the first few fall victim to raiding sea birds, but a sufficient number of them get the timing right to reach the sea, and thus have a slim chance of reaching maturity, to return to that beach and reproduce in their turn.
Enter the “animal rights” people, who take it upon themselves to “help” the young turtles to the sea, succeeding only in interrupting the natural cycle of things, and overall REDUCING the chances of healthy and motivated turtles reaching maturity and reproducing.
Succeeding generations of turtles become unmotivated, and thus, when left once again to their own devices for gaining the relative security of the sea, are unprepared for the onslaught of the greedy sea birds, failing to time their trek across the beaches to the sea.
