The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced on Thursday night that hundreds of former IRS official Lois Lerners previously lost backup tapes have been recovered, which could result in the recovery of a new trove of her emails.
IRS Deputy Inspector General Timothy P. Camus told Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) on Thursday that it took investigators just two weeks to recover 424 backup tapes that were previously said to be unretrievable.

They were only looking to mask from in kernal search.
If something is deleted, the program simply deregisters the location (yes lurkers, this is for you) so that you can then open your email and go “zOMG! Teh emailz iz gone! Gasp and shock!”
Once they did that and the furor died back, they neglected to multi write it as they felt they didn’t need to.
Oops.
Reason: arrogance.
*sigh*
Wish they had just coughed it up in the first place.
“We are living in an age of Executive crimes that are excused by the Congress....”
.
Don’t forget the Executive’s skin tone.
That’ll give you an idea why Congress acts like a bunch of eunuchs.
I think they will ALL walk. The Obungler DOJ will never prosecute them. I just wonder if another administration's DOJ would, or would a new gutless old party president simply let them walk as a professional courtesy? I wish the slime bags would be held accountable, but I am not confident, unfortunately.
They don’t act, they are Eunuchs! Could not find their balls in a basket. What a bunch of creeps we’ve elected to Congress - and only a few really give a shit! Most only pine for their jobs and security! There are some Conservatives, but the numbers are too small to matter it seems.
Can you say “jail”?
Not certain anyone would have the guts.
Politicians tend to be all about “how does this benefit me” and “what dirt do they have on me” rather than “how best can I help the country and defend our way if life.”
Very few have the guts to take a stand.
Those that do are sharked into by the media.
Jeb Bush could be the greatest candidate out there since sliced bread, but this vibe makes me steer WAY clear of considering him. I can see him just letting it go. We've all heard the "it would do too much damage to the country" and "be too expensive" excuses, but not seeing people being held to account is more damaging in my opinion.
I want every freaking corrupt person in this administration walking in a circle and getting their Vitamin D for 1 hour a day.
Here is my conspiracy theory: If I were a technician employed to illegally destroy data, then once it became clear that my superiors were serious, I would hit the delete button. I would also be extra careful not to use the drive that had deleted data on it just to make sure it remained recoverable.
Bonus points if “I” kept written notes on when and by whom I was told to delete them
She was with the IRS for 12 years. That works out to approx 100 emails a day. Or an email every 5 minutes for her entire career. Please, check my math.
Or as another play has it:
Out! out! damned spot...but it will not out.
You both make good points. I would like to see all these POSs in the cross bar hotel. I will believe it when I see it.
do we have the emails of the other 6 IRS agents that also had hdd crashes
The emails would have to directly implicate Obama - otherwise I can see a plea of some sort and then a pardon.
“Taken care of”? How do you mean exactly?
Patriots? Patriots who would “take care of” Obama? Kindly explain that one also.
(*sniff, sniff*)
What really got me hopping is the archive rep that said no one from IRS ever even asked for the e-mail copies. Lerner and that mutt Koskinen belong in jail
That should be on the TV news every night.
But it isn’t. Incredible what has happened to the country.

Nonsense. It's irrelevant. If this President were lily white, this Congress would still let him get away with exactly the same crimes.
That's how cowardly this Republican Congress is.
Collectively, they just don't f-----g care...
