You may be right.

But.

When el Jefe bused in hundreds of interns, he was playing fair.

Respect is earned.

I walked out. No regrets. I didn’t come here to have anything to do with him.

“Respect is earned.”

I agree respect is earned. Treating someone with civility does not necessarily imply respect for someone’s behavior. A man holding a door for a woman entering an establishment in public doesn’t know if she is a prostitute or a society dame. If she is a prostitute, he is not demonstrating respect for her lifestyle, he is merely extending courtesy to a fellow human being.

One of the problems with our society today is the elites and masses no longer demonstrate common courtesy in public discourse or behavior. We’ve lost virtue, common values and manners in our quest to be self indulgent. The loss of our spirituality has resulted in us ignoring the teachings of Christ, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

I have no respect for many of the actions and policies of Jeb Bush, John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell, John Boehner, Karl Rove, and other self professed “conservatives”. However, if I met one of them on the street I would show him the courtesy of smiling and saying hello, whether or not the smile and greeting was returned. I desire a return to a civil society and to achieve this goal I must walk the talk.
