Texas Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday at the
Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) that the way you know which Republican candidate to support for president in 2016 is to look for the candidate who fights for conservative principles.
"How do we differentiate" between the crowded field of candidates? Cruz asked the audience.
"We all know that in a campaign, every candidate comes up and says they're the most conservative," the Republican said.
"We have a way to tell the difference," Cruz said, then cited a verse from the Bible, which says, "You shall know them by their fruits."
"Demand action, not talk," he said. "If a candidate tells you they oppose Obamacare, 'Fantastic, when have you fought against it?' "
The Republican presidential hopeful then cited a litany of issues including the nation's debt, amnesty, First Amendment rights, religious liberty, the Second Amendment, traditional marriage, Common Core, support for Israel, as well as a nuclear Iran.
With each issue, ask the candidates "'when have you stood up and fought against it?'" Cruz said.
"Talk is cheap," he told the CPAC audience. "Actions speak far, far louder than words.
"We need to look to the people that walk the walk and talk the talk."
. . .
And it's going to be up to conservatives to "turn the country around" and reignite "the miracle of America."
To do this Cruz said that Republicans must "reassemble the Reagan coalition" of fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, national security conservatives and Reagan Democrats.

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. I like everything this man says and does, and am so happy that I was able to contribute to electing him to the U.S. Senate.
If he wants my vote, all he’s got to do is ask for it. I’ll be proud to do so for the third time, in 2016.

We are supporting Senator Cruz. We hope to have an election in 2016, obama may appoint himself supreme ruler forever by executive order and our Republican majority in the House and Senate wouldn’t dare hold up funds for the coronation or risk a presidential veto.

Amen! For too long conservatives have settled for lip service.

Ted Cruz speaks for me. He’s right on the money. Ted Cruz and Scott Walker are excellent men/candidates. I will vote for either of these two men. Ted Cruz, Scott Walker, Mike Lee, Ben Carson each have much to offer, and they give me hope for the future. We all must then unite behind one candidate and make this a win for this country. I’m not looking for perfection, but I will back a candidate who shares my concerns on certain issues/goals for this country, and can show that he is working toward the achievement of those goals. As Ted said, actions speak louder than words. May the best man win.

Yes, we will need Reagan Democrats to fight the coming insanity.
You would be surprised how many normal Democrat voters there are who left the GOP when the GOP only focused on the WOT.
Don’t get me wrong, the WOT was important but it was NOT the only issue Americans cared about.
Rebuilding the Reagan Coalition is the only way to bring back their support.
Oh and we need to clean house and throw out the TRASH.

Very true. I think there are many Democrats who do not like the fact their party has gone psycho commie left but stay loyal to them because they see how the Republicans cave and capitulate, and see no differences between the two parties.

Ammo’s still tough to come by - methinks there’s some hoarding and “keeping powder dry” going on, and that’s all to the good.

At this point I just wish Republican candidates would spend any time at all looking at the strategies and platforms that helped Reagan win such huge landslides and consider for one second that these ideas are much better than what the establishment is peddling now. Tragically, even that seems too much to ask for.
To: SoConPubbie
If you are ashamed to stand by President Cruz, you had better seek another flag.

That was implied by his statement.
