I think it has to do with one’s ability to interpret colours. It literally looks blue, but if you’re thinking along the lines of context (shading or contrast) you might interpret it as white.
However, I could not see the gold bands as anything else than gold. I thought, when I tried to interpret it differently, that I could see a hint of faded leathery black, but that’s as far as I got.

Few people are completely color blind.
Its rare for humans to see the world in black and white.
But there is an innate preference for certain colors over others.

Gold = orange. It’s really an issue with the image taking and printing processes. Try taking pics of a black lab. It’s often difficult to see any detail.

I think this is more twitter 'emperor's new clothes' bunk (like Kanye is being nice to some old unknown dude named Paul McCartney).
Took the pic (and tones) into a drawing program. No way in heck is that 'black'.
