Comic Book Women With Realistic Bodies Are The Heroines We Need [barf alert]
Huffinington Post ^ | February 26, 2015 | Cavan Sieczkowski

Posted on 02/26/2015 6:09:26 PM PST by grundle

Yes, comic book heroines are supposed to have powers that are out of this world, but the illustrations of their bodies could definitely be brought down to Earth.

A creative team working with Bulimia.com, a website dedicated to providing information and support systems to those struggling with eating disorders, decided to transform covers of comic books depicting popular female -- and male -- characters and give our favorite heroes more realistic bodies. Instead of figures with huge breasts, impossibly small waists and disproportioned thighs, they gave characters like DC Comics' Catwoman and Marvel's Black Widow more practical bodies.

The team was inspired by BuzzFeed's edited illustrations of Disney princesses with realistic waistlines.

"We didn't intend this project to be a commentary on whether or not comic books send the wrong message about body image," a representative with Bulimia.com told The Huffington Post in an email Tuesday. "Rather, our hope here is to show the extent to which superheroes' body types (as is the case with their super-human abilities) are fictional. Our hope is that when viewers see these superheroes visualized in such a manner that they can identify with, they may feel better about themselves and realize the futility of any comparison between themselves and the fictional universes of Marvel and DC Comics."

Check out some of the illustrations, below:

Iron Man's exoskeleton, Captain America's experimental forumla, Wonder Woman's superhero body, and, well, pretty much every superhero you can think of - they're all politically incorrect, so these idiots have created new versions.

Uh, hello? Comic books are fantasy! They are not supposed to look like medical journals.

Sensible person: "You know, Muslims do terrible things to young girls. I think feminists ought to really speak out on such an important --"

Feminist: "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Whatever. Look: no one cares. Muslims are fine people. Let's get to the REALLY important stuff -- our comic book covers are not realistic! It's an outrage!!"

Hey idiots at Bulimia.com: my wife has a body *just like* that Wonder Man cover, *except with bigger breasts*.

Please explain to me how she has an “unrealistic” body? Seems pretty real to me!

Oh, yeah. Maybe it’s unrealistic to YOU. Raise your standards.

For the uninitiated:

SJW: Social Justice Warrior

A pejorative term for an individual who repeatedly and vehemently engages in arguments on social justice on the Internet, often in a shallow or not well-thought-out way, for the purpose of raising their own personal reputation. A social justice warrior, or SJW, does not necessarily strongly believe all that they say, or even care about the groups they are fighting on behalf of. They typically repeat points from whoever is the most popular blogger or commenter of the moment, hoping that they will “get SJ points” and become popular in return. They are very sure to adopt stances that are “correct” in their social circle. They’re usually (but not always) white/Asian, upper-middle class females with a sexuality you have never heard of before. They will repeat the same mantra over and over, and will never change their opinion unless whoever is teaching them those ideas opinion changes. Their favorite phrase is “check your privilege.”

The SJW’s favorite activity of all is to dogpile. Their favorite websites to frequent are Livejournal and Tumblr. They do not have relevant favorite real-world places, because SJWs are primarily civil rights activists only online.

#1:

A social justice warrior reads an essay about a form of internal misogyny where women and girls insult stereotypical feminine activities and characteristics in order to boost themselves over other women.

The SJW absorbs this and later complains in response to a Huffington Post article about a 10-year-old feminist’s letter, because the 10-year-old called the color pink “prissy”.

#2:

Commnter: “I don’t like getting manicures. It’s too prissy.”

SJW: “Oh my god, how -ing dare you use that word, you disgusting sexist piece of -!”

#3

White straight male: “Hi”
SJW: “OMG HOW DARE YOU OPPRESS ME WITH YOUR WHITE MALE GAZE GET AWAY FROM ME YOU PIG! CHECK YOUR PRIVILEGE!”
White straight male: “All I said was-”
SJW: “STOP HITTING ON ME! STREET HARASSMENT! RAPE CULTURE! STOP RAPING ME!”
White straight male: “What are you talking abou-”
SJW: “WHITE DEVIL STOP RAPING ME YOU ABLEIST PIG!”
Another person: “No use in trying to reason with her, she’s an SJW”

The concept of “escapism” escapes some people. I need fiction, including comics from years past, to escape the obnoxious hell liberals have turned our society into!
