What Obamacare gave, the Supreme Court could take away.
The Supreme Court next Wednesday hears a case that could end Obamacare subsidies in 34 states that use HealthCare.gov. If the justices rule that the subsidies are illegal through the federal exchange, they would largely unravel President Barack Obamas health care law, which has helped millions of Americans get insured.

The circumstances are different than the last time the court had a chance to gut Obamacare. That was in 2012, and the court narrowly upheld the law and its unpopular individual mandate. Back then, most of the Affordable Care Act hadnt gone into effect yet; it was still partly an abstraction.
Now, 11.4 million people have signed up, and nearly nine in 10 get tax credits to help pay for coverage. Most of them are in states that use the federal exchange, rather than running their own, and those are the people who lose their financial assistance if the court rules against the White House in the case known as King v. Burwell. Up to 8 million people could once again be uninsured, according to an estimate by the Urban Institute.
The cut off could be abrupt and the political outcry intense.

It means they will CHOOSE to lose it. They can get care for free if they choose it - just like they always could.
But I’d bet the ins cos will be cajoled into insuring them without payment - promises of future payouts ya know
It certainly could take years to try to implement market reforms. The sooner the better.
I’m not sure about the budget period. Since the gov’t has established a Jan-to-Dec period....the gov’t might be on the hook until the end of December.
Somewhere out there....are insiders who know of the court’s decision, and I think you will see some stock market maneuvers a week prior to the announcement.....if it’s going negative. Massive losses for health insurance companies if this goes against the subsidy. Someone will drop stock if they know the way this decision will go.
I disagree. In fact I believe that Benito wants the supreme Court to run against subsidies.
That's why they are IDIOTS!!!!!
They've had ....
to come up with a plan, and they don't have one!!!
Do the Politico reporters all have 0bama regime knee pads?
And towels?

Obamacare never gave it. Obama took it. That's why they are in court.

Obama would IGNORE the Supreme Court!! He;s a Marxist Dictator.
You mean by going to the emergency room? That's a financial drain on the hospitals.
But Id bet the ins cos will be cajoled into insuring them without payment - promises of future payouts ya know
I don't think the government can force insurance companies to give their policies away, regardless of financial pain it causes.
It’s just Washington Post guys, so, yes.
Yeah e-room or medicaid. Total financial drain!
I didn’t think government could force me to pay for a product I don’t want either.
I think John Roberts is compromised and he will re-write the law to save it again even though the current wording is crystal clear.
+1
We don’t need any government plan. Government plans are the problem
...they would largely unravel President Barack Obamas health care law, which has helped millions of Americans get insured.
Or will they? And if they do, what do they offer in Obamacare’s place?
Sounds like you'll have company.
Roberts and the Supreme Court may simply say Congress has the power (which it does) to rewrite the law or defund the activity of the president. Since Congress has not done so, it is complicit. The Republicans in the House have been able to defund Obamacare since January 2011 and have not done so. Since January 2015 the Republican House and Senate has the ability to defund the execution of the law, rewrite the law, or rescind the law. No action has been taken. Hence, Congress is in agreement.
I agree, and he will do it with the blessing of congress.
The plan is simple: Go back to free markets. No, I don’t mean what it looked like before obamacare. I mean FREE markets.
