I doubt this will work for more than a short term, for the same reason that mechanical hearts are not commonplace. The human system is incredibly complex and interrelated.
In the case of the heart it was discovered that some part of it gave off a tiny amount of a unique hormone. But why should that matter? For a short time, it doesn’t. But after weeks or months bad things start to happen without it. So in effect, they took an engine block and replaced its screws with nails.
And the head is a thousand times more complex.
This is so shocking that nobody is asking, well show us something like this with animals.
