This morning the BBC published details of a major poll of the attitudes of Britain’s Muslims. The headline on the front of the BBC website linking to the research states: “Muslims ‘oppose cartoon reprisals’”. This of course relates to attitudes within the Muslim community towards the recent Charlie Hebdo attacks.
It’s a reassuring headline. It’s also wrong. Many Muslims - a majority - do indeed utterly oppose the murderous killings in Paris. But a very, very large number of Muslims don’t. Presented with the statement “I have some sympathy for the motives behind the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris”, 27 seven percent agreed with the statement. A further 2 per cent refused to answer the question. And an additional eight percent said they were unsure whether they had some sympathy or not.
That is a shocking figure. And an utterly shaming one for Britain’s Muslim community. If this poll is accurate, over a quarter of British Muslims overtly sympathise with the motives of those responsible for the cold blooded murder of 16 journalists, police officers and Jews.

Well, 70 percent. But the other 5 aren’t really Muslim, as they do not follow the teachings of their founding beheader.
I think a lot can be learned from the immune systems of biological organisms.
There are some symbiotic relationships between the host and “guest” organisms, particularly in the gut. But, the general rule is that if it’s different, immune surveillance picks it up, attacks it, and gets rid of it. Why? Because most of the foreign organisms are self-interested parasites which will damage or eventually kill the host.
Western PC (with a good dose of Communist/Alinsky scheming over the years) has devolved to the point where we pretend that our society doesn’t need an immune system. That’s what borders (like the skin) provide, when properly enforced. It’s what immigrant vetting and naturalization are supposed to provide.
So, now, with a long period of suppressed civic immune system, we’ve developed a number of civic diseases. We have colonies of self-interested nationalistic groups balkanizing the country. Maybe some of these are benign growths. But, we have metastatic ones too—Islamic and leftist—which seek complete overthrow of the host society and domination of its remaining parts.
Does anyone else think about the analogy between biological and political systems?
They all do. 3/4 lie about it or mumble.

It suited members of our elites to - as you say - "pretend that our society doesn't need an immune system." This turn of thought seems to have gained widespread acceptance as a reaction to the terrible effect of technology-assisted global warfare waged in the last century, but I think its roots are somewhat older than that.
It's the swinging pendulum, overshooting equilibrium on every oscillation. The next swing may be a doozy.
