He adopted the last name of “X” in 1950
to represent his unknown african last name
and replace his ancestor’s slave-name of “Little”.
“X” stood for his unknown African family name that was erased by the white man.
Any older FReepers remember Cassius X? (That name lasted for about a week and a half), then, he became.....”I AM THE GREATEST”.....Yep, that guy!

I did like the one scene in the Malcolm X movie, where the ditzy white liberal chick went up to Malcolm and asked him what she could do to help the cause, and he told her, “Nothing.”

Back in the BBS days, one of my December taglines was, "Malcolm, the reason for the Xmas season." I don't think anyone got it, even back then.
IIRC, as the use of "X" spread, people with the same first name had to distinguish themselves, so that people started calling themselves "2X," "3X," etc. If that was the case, then the 10X guys could have been really sweet.
Those actions alone should put X head and shoulders above the wun already.
