Way back in ‘08 the McCain brain trust made a decision to not talk about this and quenched Palin, who did bring it up.

You are correct but I caution you against any use of the the word "brain" in any sentence with the word "McCain", unless the sentence is something like, "There's not a single brain in the entire McCain family."
