An Egyptian student living in Milan, Italy decided to find out what would happen if he dressed as an imam and carried around his Koran on the streets.
Hamdy Mahisen got occasional odd stares and a few people accused him of being part of the Taliban or that Taliban s**t. In this frame, a couple worried about him carrying a weapon under his tunic:
Though disturbing, this video doesnt appear to be as nasty as the one in which a yarmulke-wearing Jewish man walked in a Muslim section of Paris, and was threatened and subjected to epithets and spitting.
Likewise, discovering people might think one is a terrorist simply for wearing religious garb must be incredibly hurtful although there isnt just one set of conclusions for such an observation.
Italians are on edge about terrorism. ISIS terrorists have recently threatened to attack Rome, and Italians are dealing with what they perceive to be an invasion of sorts of people coming from Libya.
According to the Daily Beast:
(T)here is a palpable tension in Italy over the ISIS threatLibya is just 109 miles away from the island of Lampedusa and 300 miles from Sicilymade worse by a 64 percent increase in illegal migrant arrivals by sea since last year. In all of 2014, more than 170,000 people arrived from Libya and Turkey, the highest number ever recorded.
For his part, Mahisen doesnt think his reception would have been so icy if hed done the same experiment in Paris or New York.
Like the Obama campaigns, the Jihad seems to have a very active propaganda strategy.
Frankly, if I’d have seen him getting the crap beat out of him in some dark alley, I’d have taken a tourist photo and moved about my business.
looks like i won’t be taking a dream vacation to Italy...
Terrible. He should leave Italy immediately and go back to the land of his brothers.
Imagine the horror. Anyone in the free world thinking suspiciously about a muslim. It’s not like they’ve ever done ANYTHING to provoke this....like saying ROME IS NEXT.

Then the terrorists have won. :-)
.
I sure hope the Euros are considering Life Boat Rules with regard to the massive illegal boat lift occurring. But I doubt it.
Milan is one of the worst cities in the world for pickpockets, muggers, thieves, scammers, etc. If you told me half the residents were criminals, I would not doubt it. People there are naturally wary of anyone on the street that they don’t personally know.
You mean no one spit, cursed or threatened him like the man in the “beanie”? Imagine that!
Then a police car pulled over and they made me get in the back and they took me down to the station and charged me with a crime! It was so humiliating and degrading.
I hate it when that happens. People always stereotyping other people. People are so intolerant.
Nothing. Nobody spit on him. Nobody harassed him. Unlike when the Jewish guy put on a yamaka and wandered around the city.
Five hours edited down to two minutes and that is all they have ?
I’m reminded of how in Dirty Harry, Harry is trying to deliver the ransom money but gets hassled by perverts and thieves.
Some folks don’t need much of an excuse to hassle folks.
So, there weren’t any Sicilians in town that day?
Like the Obama campaigns, the Jihad seems to have a very active propaganda strategy.
Odd isn’t it? Almost like they’re consorts.
Chances are he would be rolled by some African muslim ‘yutes.’ While Machismo is alive and well the imam has little to fear from the Italians.
after reading the article, i feel like having a Koran would make me safer...
well maybe a pinch on the butt
i don't have to vacation in Italy for that...
