There is nobody in the world today who has the capability to bring complex sophisticated, simultaneous attacks to our homeland that kill thousands,...Al Qaeda had it once, but they do not have it today, thanks to U.S. counterterrorism operations,...iit would take Al Qaeda just three years to pose that kind of threat again....Another big worry is that terrorist outfits like the Al Qaeda-affiliated Khorasan Group in Syria or the Yemen-based Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula could get their hands on enough firepower to shoot down jetliners.
Was this talk given three years ago? Does he not eve read newspapers? The “Khorasan Group”? Hasn’t some other nasty bunch arisen that has a billion dollar “budget,” stolen refineries, and no compunction so about perpetrating the worst evils known to man and God?
He seems woefully ignorant, as usual.
Remember that sniper and kid that drove around randomly shooting people? They nearly paralyzed portions of the East Coast from what I remember. Think of just ten terrorists just like that—snipers who kill people at random and drive away before authorities can react. One doesn’t need weapons of mass destruction or bring down aircraft to cause fear and panic and harm the economy.
I would never, ever underestimate people like ISIS. A small number of terrorists who are willing to die for their cause can cause incredible damage well out of proportion to the actual threat. Just think about how much 9-11 has cost us beyond the actual damage done: the freedom lost, the money spent, the fear generated.
No. I would not underestimate the terrorists, “junior varsity” or not!
There is a hell of a lot of trouble “they” could cause if they could act simultaneously. Think about it. It could be in your own neighborhood. It’s a scary thought that most of us don’t want to think about.
