It is beyond me how anyone who claims to be a conservative could possibly embrace the concept of a “Hate Crime”. In a free society a crime is a crime. Do we really want our government to mete out harsher punishments because of the thoughts behind a crime?

The Progressives are pushing the concept of “Hate Crimes” because once that idea takes hold it’s a very short step to outlawing “Hate Speech”. They are already working hard on that, let’s not help them.

"Hate crimes" are bullsh!t in my book. "Hate Crime" is a shiny, flexible bullshit label used by the liberals to downgrade the reality of anything perpetrated by a member of the "race, gender or religion of the day" (i.e., make the perp blameless, nothing to see here, move along); or committed against a member of the "race, gender or religion of the day", in which case the liberals will again disregard the real picture and judge the perpetrator as a monster.

"Hate crime law" needs to be abolished if it favors/protects one group over another.
