Thug enters. Pulls Gun. Threatens Employees. Thug get his ass blown away by alert Pharmacist armed and concealing. Media ignores.
Charges will not be filed against a pharmacist who shot and killed a man accused of trying to rob a pharmacy in Pinch. The pharmacist, Don Radcliff, tells WSAZ that hes glad to hear the news, but says he is still struggling to cope with what happened.
I cant say Im at peace with it, but the hardest part right now is trying to cope with how his family feels, said Radcliff. It happened Wednesday morning at Good Family Pharmacy in Pinch.
Investigators say Terry Gillenwater, 25, of Quick, walked into the pharmacy about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday with a mask on his face.
Radcliff says he and other pharmacy workers tried to joke with Gillenwater about his clothing, thinking it was because of the cold weather.
We know almost everyone that comes in. We tried joking with him about being bundled up, hey are you here to rob us, and he didnt even respond, said Radcliff.
Moments later Radcliff says Gillenwater then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the pharmacy staff. Thats when deputies say the pharmacist pulled out his own gun he was carrying concealed and shot Gillenwater in the chest.
Radcliff says he and other workers tried to help Gillenwater by putting pressure on his wounds and talking to him, but he later died at the hospital. The idea of his death is something Radcliff is still struggling with, but is confident that he did the right thing.
My daily devotional yesterday was John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. That at least gave me some peace about it, said Radcliff. It tells me that God put me there for a reason It could have been much worse.
The pharmacy is open for business and is working to repair a broken window from the shooting.
true! First time I ever fired a 45 1911 I thought the d@mn thing had blown up!
Yes.
357 twice.
First time it hurt bad and I said “why would you ever do that”
2nd time had a huge stray Great Dane going after my chickens and I shot twice in front of him to hopefully stop. Surprisingly, it didn’t hurt because I was more focused on stopping the dog.
Anyway, yes, a 357 or 44 sucks without ear protection. Worse then when I have had to shoot my 30-30 without ear protection.
Undeniable truth.
I deliberately did it because I wanted to know what it really sounded like. Having done it,I don’t intend to repeat the experiment.
And yes, I've been to Pinch, WV!
