UPDATE: No Charges Filed Against Conceal & Carry Pharmacist For Killing Thug [VIDEO] (Pinch, WV)

Thug enters. Pulls Gun. Threatens Employees. Thug get his ass blown away by alert Pharmacist armed and concealing. Media ignores.

Charges will not be filed against a pharmacist who shot and killed a man accused of trying to rob a pharmacy in Pinch. The pharmacist, Don Radcliff, tells WSAZ that he’s glad to hear the news, but says he is still struggling to cope with what happened.

“I can’t say I’m at peace with it, but the hardest part right now is trying to cope with how his family feels,” said Radcliff. It happened Wednesday morning at Good Family Pharmacy in Pinch.

Investigators say Terry Gillenwater, 25, of Quick, walked into the pharmacy about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday with a mask on his face.

Radcliff says he and other pharmacy workers tried to joke with Gillenwater about his clothing, thinking it was because of the cold weather.

“We know almost everyone that comes in. We tried joking with him about being bundled up, ‘hey are you here to rob us,’ and he didn’t even respond,” said Radcliff.

Moments later Radcliff says Gillenwater then pulled out a gun and pointed it at the pharmacy staff. That’s when deputies say the pharmacist pulled out his own gun he was carrying concealed and shot Gillenwater in the chest.

Radcliff says he and other workers tried to help Gillenwater by putting pressure on his wounds and talking to him, but he later died at the hospital. The idea of his death is something Radcliff is still struggling with, but is confident that he did the right thing.

“My daily devotional yesterday was John 10:10 ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.’ That at least gave me some peace about it, said Radcliff. It tells me that God put me there for a reason It could have been much worse.”

The pharmacy is open for business and is working to repair a broken window from the shooting.

This will be good precedent for things to come.

The other pharmacists must have ringing in the ears though.

Sounds like this therapy was over-the-counter.

Did you ever hear how loud a gun shot is in an enclosed place like that? It very much hurts your ears.

So true. Folks spend hours at the ranges with hearing protection - a good thing of course. But ... I had my family each fire three rounds from the .45, 9mm and the .223 WITHOUT hearing protection so they would know, and so they would not be startled into incompetence if they were ever in a self-defense/ unexpected shoot.

I recommended the same thing to frinds of ours in the shooting community who had NEVER heard their firearms unmasked. They were astounded. Both agreed it would have spooked them.

Also it became painfully obvious all the Hollywood and tv shows with cops and bad guys firing weapons in their cars was commonplace and doable. You get the idea. ;-)

“.......he is still struggling to cope with what happened.
“I can’t say I’m at peace with it.............”

Taking another person life is not an easy thing to do nor ever get over, ask most vets who have been in that position.

While I can sympathize with the shooter, I cannot feel bad for the robber, he rolled the dice and lost. Definitely a bad decision on his part.

And if you really want a jolt, try that with a 357 or 44 mag.

This is why people cling to their guns and religion.

When I got my S&W Model 19 .357 magnum in 1968 (that's right, 1968), I went out to an unsettled place nearly parents home where there were some sand hills to act as backstops and, without ear protection, fired two .357 rounds at about 4:00 p.m. My ears were still ringing by 10:00 p.m. Huge difference. It's a good ida for everybody to do the same thing once.

Yes, the decibel level of magnums is very high.
