In the release its latest monthly analysis of global temperatures on Thursday the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrations (NOAA) National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. reported that, with a combined land and sea average global surface temperature deviation of 1.39 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th century average, 2015 had the second warmest January on record. The year 2007 still holds the record for warmest January since records started in 1880.
Earlier in the month the Japan Meteorological Agency released similar results, with 2015 tying 2002 and 2007 for the warmest January on record according to JMA data. The JMA uses 1981 to 2010 global average surface temperatures as a baseline average.
In a breakdown between land and sea global surface averages, January was the 2nd warmest month for average land surface temperature (2.57 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th century average). Meanwhile the month was the 3rd warmest on record for average ocean surface temperature (0.95 degrees Fahrenheit above the 20th century average). The northern hemisphere combined land and sea global surface average temperature was the 2nd highest ever recorded while the southern hemisphere combined land and sea global surface average temperature was the 7th highest ever recorded.

Tell That to Michigan.
The data on this whole subject is insufficient to draw any conclusion with respect to the significance of any weather fluctuations we have experienced in recent times.
It's disgusting to see so many high level science entities throw the whole premise of traditional scientific theory out the window in an effort to support a political agenda.
Can’t and won’t believe anything from the gov’mnt!!

Adelaide in January 2015:cool days, warm nights, high humidity Despite above average temperatures during the first week of January daytime temperatures for the month as a whole were cooler than average across the Adelaide region, resulting in the coolest January days since 2004.
Of course this is true. This is because, for the last 20 years, 1934 has been cooling considerably. 1934 was once the warmest year on record, but the recent cooling has now dropped it below the current high temperatures. Here’s the data:

South America is part of the globe.
