Almost half of uninsured adults are unaware that there is a financial penalty for lacking health insurance, according to a study released Thursday by the Urban Institute.
The study, using data from December, found that roughly 25 percent of uninsured people above the poverty line had heard nothing at all about the penalty, and around 20 percent had heard only a little. Fifty-three percent had heard some or a lot.
Under ObamaCare, people without health insurance who do not qualify for an exemption must pay a penalty. For those lacking coverage in 2014, the penalty is $95 or 1 percent of an individuals annual income, whichever is greater. The penalty more than doubles for 2015.

For me, it’s all about that good ol’ 8% rule.
I’ve gone Galt.
I was on Facebook a month ago and this issue came up. Obama voters were denying the reality of the penalty, lol.
Obama care sells me lack of insurance at gunpoint. A change I don’t belive in. Millions more don’t have insurance now that he “fixed” the market.
Obama voters can’t name the vice president......Neil Kinnoch.
Obamacare customers are being asked to wait to file their taxes this year because of yet another problem with the online system. The Obama administration acknowledge Friday that about 800,000 users of healthcare.gov were sent incorrect tax information, the Associated Press reported. (Excerpt) Read more at theblaze.com ...
AMERICANS MAY BE GETTING SCREWED BY THE IRS----but AP reports Millions of immigrants from Obamas executive amnesty action could get a windfall from the IRS.......a reversal of fortune after years of paying taxes to help fund government programs they were banned from receiving.
Armed with new Social Security numbers, many of these immigrants who were living in the U.S. illegally will now be able to claim up to four years worth of tax credits designed to benefit the working poor. For big families, thats a maximum of nearly $24,000, as long as they can document their earnings during those years.
Some Republicans are labeling the payments amnesty bonuses, one more reason they oppose Obamas program shielding millions of immigrants from deportation. (Excerpt) Read more at hosted.ap.org ...

I Know Nothing! Congressional Hispanic Caucus Member
Didnt Know Illegals To Receive Hefty Tax Refunds--rebukes reporter for asking

Cong Luis Gutierrez (DEM-Ill) told The Daily Caller Friday that he didnt know that illegal immigrants are eligible for tax refunds even if they havent paid taxes. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told members of Congress Wednesday that illegal immigrants who did not pay taxes will be able to claim back-refunds once they are issued social security numbers.
I know nothing of the sort, Gutierrez snapped at a Daily Caller reporter Friday when asked about Koskinens testimony. Of course it would be like you to raise that sort of question, the Democrat Guttierez continued. Why dont you ask the commissioner of the IRS?
The IRS commissioner, of course, had already been asked about it. Under the new program, Koskinen told members of the House oversight committee Wednesday, if you get a Social Security number and you work, youll be eligible to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit. You will get an amount depending on your situation, Koskinen added. If you are an individual working and applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the maximum you can get is in the range of 500 to 600 dollars.
However it appears Koskinen fudged the question while the cameras were rolling---,according to the IRS own website, a filer can receive a check up to $6,143 when they have three or more qualifying children.
This should be blamed on the MSM who tried to cover this up to protect Obama. Instead, we get an activist media calling for changes to cover for their cover-up of the penalties and subsidy repayments.
It just keeps on snowballing out of control.

8% exemption for us since I have to fully pay for my insurance and we’re 61.
“You are not subject to the penalty for 2014 if your required contribution exceeds 8% of your household income”
And there's a whole lot of other bad s**t that these pathetic losers haven't heard about, either. Big surprises are in store for those who don't pay attention to what's going on around them and/or get their news from the alphabet networks and Comedy Central!
Carrot or stick approach?
Nope, no carrot. In fact the headlines today are screaming about the 800,000 poor bastids that were given INCORRECT IRS info relative to their FUBOCare.
Only the stick. You sign up for this s**t or we’ll penalize ou.
I figured most Obama/Obamacare supporters still try to maintain that it’s all gonna be free.
Because Obama’s such a good man.
And they’re such good people for supporting such a good man.
So not only is it NOT free health care, you gotta pay a fine for not having it? (I KNOW people who thought it was going to be free)
Hmm... who warned everyone about this?
But you had to pass the bill in order to find out what was in it... Do you like what you got?
A shock? To whom?
Oh, yeah, to the goofy liberals who felt so good about free obamacare. Yeah, reality can suck apart from good intentions, best wishes, utopia, and purple unicorns.
The ever generous American taxpayers should be happy and gay to be given the opportunity to pay the Individual Shared Responsibility Payment so they can share their responsibility with those who aren’t responsible enough to share.
Or something.
But, then, again, we are the pack mules for this fiasco.
I guess the Obama malAdministratoon are not the masters of communication the their friends in the MSM would have us believe they are. They spent tens of millions of dollars on stupid print and tv advertising campaigns, websites, YouTube videos and other Bullsh1t and HALF the people they were trying to 'reach' are still wholly ignorant about Obamacare - apart from "feeling" that it is a good thing.
If you are an individual working and applying for the Earned Income Tax Credit, the maximum you can get is in the range of 500 to 600 dollars. That is an absolutely correct statement. The key work is individual. The maximum amount for an individual is $496. For Head of Household and Married persons with children is is greater depending on your income which is on a bell curve.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Gee, do they think the $95 fine is incentive for people to pay several thousand bucks a year for worthless insurance?
