Judge authorizes 'personal ruin' for Christian florist

Says state, same-sex couple can demand home, savings as damages

A judge in Washington on Wednesday authorized the “personal ruin” of a florist whose Christian faith prevented her from promoting a same-sex wedding and who was sued by both the state and the homosexual couple.

Officials with the Alliance Defending Freedom confirmed that Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom granted a summary judgment in the case against Barronelle Stutzman, so the case won’t proceed to trial now. It had been scheduled for March 23.

It was Ekstrom who said last month that Stutzman personally was liable for the claims against her, placing both her business assets and her home and personal savings at risk.

The judge ordered that the state and the homosexual plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorneys’ fees from Stutzman.

“The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don’t help celebrate same-sex marriage,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kristen Waggoner.

Somebody needs to inform the local mosque that this judge draws pictures of Mohammed while doodling in court.

Don't forget to tell them how the special couple like to take turn dressing as mutthamed while engaging in sex.

She should file bankruptcy, then give the judge, the plaintiffs and their lawyer the finger.

“Alex Ekstrom is a superior court judge for the Benton/Franklin Superior Court in Washington. The court presides over Benton and Franklin counties in Washington. He was appointed to the court by Governor Jay Inslee on September 9, 2014, to fill the vacancy created by the appointment of Judge Sal Mendoza, Jr. to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.[1] Ekstrom will need to run for election to the court in 2015, and, if he is elected then, he will need to run for re-election in 2016.”

Seems the judge granted summary judgment to avoid a trial where jurors might be sympathetic to Stutzman and not see things quite his way. This is so disgusting. She’d still have appeals left, tho, if she can afford it and/or find an attorney or legal institute who’d handle her case pro bono.

IOW, how were they actually damaged by the refusal of service? And how did the plaintiffs prove said damages?

The summary judgment would only prove liability but not damages. However generally in tort law you have to have damages in order to have standing. You actually have to have suffered some harm. Here they were offered free flowers from other vendors, but they refused to accept the free flowers and instead chose to sue the florist that wouldn't take their money.

This is not the America that WWII veterans fought and died for.

Do christian business owners not have rights?

You will notice that these Nazi homo perverts haven't sued any Muslim owned businesses.

Funny, this doesn’t appear to be happening in ISIS controlled territory.

They just behead Christians without provocation or a trial in ISIS territory. Would that be your preference?

Exactliy. Once anti-discrimination laws went into effect the door was opened for the government to tell people and businesses with whom they can associate.

If these laws were repealed, there wouldn’t be “whites only” businesses cropping up everywhere, because times have changed any business that did that would quickly be shunned and go out of business. If we don’t have the freedom of association, the state owns us.

*Sigh*

There is only one way to put an end to these absurdities, and it is not by the “ballot box”, but by the sword (”Bullet Box”).

Any and all wailing and whining will have absolutely no effect and will only serve to identify dissenters.

Like it or not, that is the current state of our reality.

the ‘crime’ was not performing a task (a choice available to anyone not a slave, under the first amendment) and the penalty is ‘personal ruin’?

obvious eighth amendment violation:

“Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

demand the judge be disbarred. then sue the state for civil rights violations and the homos for targeted harassment.

Courts or legislatures that adjudicate or legislate contrary to equal protection of the God-given, unalienable right to life of all innocent persons, including unborn persons, or for homosexual pretend “marriage,” do not make any form of those barbaric practices legal. They simply make our laws and our system of justice lawless, while destroying their own legitimacy.

Alex Ekstrom sworn in as Benton-Franklin Superior Court judge, becoming the newest judge on the Benton-Franklin Superior Court.

Gov. Jay Inslee named Ekstrom to the position Sept. 9, 2014 replacing Sal Mendoza Jr., who moved to the federal bench after being appointed in June by President Obama.

Washington Gov Jay Inslee is a liberal?????

We recently passed a law in Michigan that offers some protection for private businesses who refuse services on moral grounds.

I don't see the point to state laws anymore.
