Says state, same-sex couple can demand home, savings as damages
A judge in Washington on Wednesday authorized the “personal ruin” of a florist whose Christian faith prevented her from promoting a same-sex wedding and who was sued by both the state and the homosexual couple.
Officials with the Alliance Defending Freedom confirmed that Benton County Superior Court Judge Alex Ekstrom granted a summary judgment in the case against Barronelle Stutzman, so the case won’t proceed to trial now. It had been scheduled for March 23.
It was Ekstrom who said last month that Stutzman personally was liable for the claims against her, placing both her business assets and her home and personal savings at risk.
The judge ordered that the state and the homosexual plaintiffs, each of whom filed lawsuits, could collect damages and attorneys’ fees from Stutzman.
“The message of these rulings is unmistakable: The government will bring about your personal and professional ruin if you don’t help celebrate same-sex marriage,” said ADF Senior Counsel Kristen Waggoner.

Very surprised that a judge in this conservative area -- as opposed to western Washington -- ruled this way.

Our side really needs to turn the tables on this garbage; find a homosexual owned business and demand that they cater, bake, or whatever, for a “traditional marriage” rally or some such. Until they get a taste of their own tactics, and as long as they work they will continue to use them.

We recently passed a law in Michigan that offers some protection for private businesses who refuse services on moral grounds.
It remains to be seen how effective it is.

Funny, this doesn’t appear to be happening in ISIS controlled territory.
Normally, eastern WA is very conservative same as eastern OR and ID. I have to look into where this out-of-place judge came from.
Frankly she has been condemned to virtual death, slavery or what not. Everything she has or could habe they go after. It is how Christ was crucified.. And His followers.

Another odd thing is I have lived here 60 years, read the local newspaper every day and don’t recollect ever hearing this judge’s name before!
What the hell is the first ammendment for if not to protect against these frikin nazi bullies!!!??? This is twisted beyond belief! Do christian business owners not have rights? This udge is basicallyteling them they cannot practice their faith...aa clear cut violation of the constitution!
Now, following the same logic and critical thinking, the customer can be sued for not buying the products. Now, one might say........."you can't force someone to buy something they don't want or need regardless of reason?" Which now brings us to Obamacare. The government has ruled that a customer must buy a product from a private business they do not want or face financial harm by the state.
Quite a living could be made by opening a store and filing a law suit for every customer who does not buy something. I would start on returns. Every customer who returns something did so because my company was a liberal progressive firm that promoted homosexuality.
Try as I may, I just can’t seem to figure out what actual damages the plaintiff would be entitled too? IOW, how were they actually damaged by the refusal of service? And how did the plaintiffs prove said damages?
