How does this benefit those who would push such a study?

That’s the question that I always ask.

The only thing I see here is the sense of self-righteousness and superiority that they would achieve,
plus justification for controlling people and denying
“unhealthy” pleasures that some folks enjoy.
(While ignoring the health consequences of homosexuality)

Until you’ve tried the pure foods approach, don’t criticize it. Over processed foods, ingredients that don’t belong and sauces and beverages with uncountable calories seriously mess up nutrition and health.

Follow the money. Always follow the money and motives. It is the prime directive. High calorie whatever in this case probably wasn't fully described. Looking back on the saccharin debacle and what occurred there, high, extremely high concentrations would be the order of the day to induce quick, intended results.

or if one cares to go back two-three decades can look into the Washington Apple - Alar pesticide affair. Same thing. Money, profit - motive.

LOL!

Who benefits from this? Everyone who eats a little more fruits and vegetables and less garbage.

Relax no one in this study trying to force you to change your eating habits. They are just trying to inform you. If you want to ignore it, then that is your decision.

Here is a little secret for you. If it tastes good, then it’s most likely a poison.

The average American gets something like a third of his calories from added sugars and industrial seed oils.
