I don’t believe in censorship, and I don’t see it being proposed here. Since I’m an adult, I read what I choose-so I got the book awhile back to see if it was really sexy and romantic-in my opinion, it was not-mostly, it was silly and ridiculous-so I gave it to a neighbor who is also single and revels in such fantasies of male domination-she loved it. She also lacks self esteem-that song by Offspring could have been written for her...

The writing was as bad/worse than my first attempts in a creative writing course in college-and anyone with a bit of sense can see that the female character has self esteem issues-most of the women I know would have filed a complaint against Mr. Grey for stalking-not signed a contract with him for consensual abuse...

It's not. However, many people mistake a non-binding opinion that some media should be avoided for "censorship."

One acquaintance of mine said she was reading it, but since she had terminal cancer, all I said was, "Not the sort of thing I like."

I think some women are not reading it because they would like the situation, but because they feel superior to the woman in the book. Sort of like my reading about the Kardashians in the UK Daily Mail.
