I'm no Obama fan, but I don't see this as a problem. We were spending $100b a year keeping US troops in both countries. This is maintenance without US ground troops (or casualties). In essence, Northern Alliance vs Taliban, with Uncle Sam providing air support, but in Iraq and Syria. Instead of $100b a year, it might cost us $10b. That's a significant discount. And the jihadist atrocities will gradually turn Muslims (1) away from jihad or (2) away from Islam. Even more amusing, foreign jihadists without military training are being shanghaied into acting as suicide bombers. Some are escaping and living to tell the tale, thereby exploding (!) the idea of some international jihadist brotherhood. It's more "blow 'em (foreign jihadists) up if they can't take a joke".
