“A misstatement or an exaggeration about a helicopter is far less damning to the future of this country than the reams of misinformation that were reported leading up to the Iraq War...when a lot of reporters should have asked a lot tougher questions.”

Here comes the narrative.

So if someone were to start barbecuing Muslims by the tens of thousands, it would be okay to say, "Well the Nazis did far worse, and we should have opposed them sooner", and that will make the story go away?
