Exploding Kittens is a highly strategic kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players take turns drawing cards until someone draws an exploding kitten and loses the game. The deck is made up of cards that let you avoid exploding by peeking at cards before you draw, forcing your opponent to draw multiple cards, or shuffling the deck.
The game gets more and more intense with each card you draw because fewer cards left in the deck means a greater chance of drawing the kitten and exploding in a fiery ball of feline hyperbole.
The game was created by Elan Lee (Xbox, ARGs), Matthew Inman (The Oatmeal), and Shane Small (Xbox, Marvel). We think this game combines all the things we're best at creating, and and put together this Kickstarter campaign because we can't build this without you.
So if you're into card games or laser beams or weaponized enchiladas, please help us make this game a reality. We think you'll love it as much as we do.
Hugs and enchilada kisses,
-Elan, Matt, and Shane.

“I was in on it at under 10K supporters.”
What tempted you?
Failure to entertain comes with a price. Entertaining them is required. :) Love playing with kitties.
For me, it was Matthew Inman’s artwork, which is usually entertaining, plus having seen what he does for people involved in his running, I figured they’ll find some way of including some extra bonuses. Don’t really know the other two involved, figure they’re more into the game itself. As for the game, sounded like something that could be fun to play with friends and family, plus ordered an extra deck set to contribute to the games collection at my local microbrewery.
At least they entertain equally in return!
(The same with cuddles. Unfortunately not so much the bringing home and serving the bacon...)
I happened to be on Kickstarter, checking status on two OTHER projects I supported (Geeky Sprinkles and Geek-a-Week Year Two), and it was suggested.
When I saw that the Oatmeal was involved, I looked. By the time I clicked “support”, numbers had gone up by ~300.
And that was about 40 minutes after the project opened. . . .
