Netanyahu considering changes to Congress speech after criticism (Say it ain't so!)

Israeli officials are considering amending the format of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's planned address to the U.S. Congress next month to try to calm some of the partisan furore the Iran-focused speech has already provoked.

Netanyahu is scheduled to address a joint session of Congress about Iran's nuclear programme on March 3, just two weeks before an Israeli parliamentary election, following an invitation from John Boehner, Republican speaker of the house.

The invitation has caused consternation in Israel and the United States, largely because it is viewed as Netanyahu, a hawk on Iran, working with the Republicans to thumb their noses at President Barack Obama's policy towards Tehran.

It is also seen as putting Netanyahu's political links to the Republicans ahead of Israel's bilateral relationship with the United States, while giving the Israeli prime minister a publicity boost ahead of the March 17 election.

As a result, Israeli officials are considering whether Netanyahu should speak in a closed session of Congress or in smaller meetings with Congressmen rather than in a prime-time TV address, so as to defuse the tensions around the event.

Another option is for the prime minister to make his speech at the annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee in Washington the same week rather than in Congress.

"The issue has been under discussion for a week," said a source close to Netanyahu's office. "(Netanyahu) is discussing it with Likud people. Some say he should give up on the speech, others that he should go through with it."

Officials in Netanyahu's office said that for now his schedule had not changed.

"In the past days the prime minister has been approached several times about his trip to the United States," one official said. "At the moment there is no change in the plans."

Not only do the Dems DEMAND that the US bow to Iran, they demand that Israel bow to Iran as well.

Everyone, Bibi Netanyahu has a Facebook page. Let's all post our comments to him on his Facebook page. This is definitely one way of getting his attention and letting him know that We the People are behind HIM, and that he should not back down in any way, shape or form to the enemy in our White House. He knows the score, as do we. Pass this info on about his Facebook page to everyone you know. He must hear from We the People who support him and the message must be Go, Bibi, Go. Don't change a word in that speech you will give to Congress.

> Why are Obama and Democrats angry at Boehner and the GOP for inviting Netanyahu to address Congress? Congress is a co-equal branch of government. Just as Obama can invite Sharpton or whoever he wants to the White House, Boehner can invite whoever he wants to visit Congress, and does not need Obama’s approval to do so.

Silly FReeper, kicks are for Trids. (old punchline to an obscure pun.)

What makes you think Obama believes that, or if he believes it, acts like it?

Or haven't you noticed that he recognizes no "co-equality" with the rest of the government?

He's imperial, irreversible, with a dollop of divine majesty granted by his god Allah.

I'll disagree with that. As mentioned earlier, BiBi should double-down. Thank the American people for backing him completely, but point out that the Ø regime has tried to thwart him in every way, and indeed as he speaks, is back in Israel fomenting dissent against BiBi.

Did you ever think you would ever see the day when a major political party in the United States would so openly and blatantly embrace Islamo-Nazism? Hard to believe this is the same party that had a President that led the fight against the Nazis in the 1940s. I cannot believe there would still be American Jews who would even dare to vote Democrat after this, but I won't hold my breath. Like blacks, it seems Jews especially New York Jews have some kind of Stockholm syndrome going on here because they HAVE to know what is going on in the rest of the world. Holocaust 2 is not coming, it's already here and they are supporting the very vermin who have done nothing but defend and empower it every step of the way.

"The good old days" to todays Democratic party....."Never again" to "Once again"...

He and the Jewish people have lot to lose. Obama could pull financial support, weapons, ban American flights to Tel Aviv, causing financial losses.

Oh yes, our President has the power to inflict so much damage on Israel and bring it to it’s knees.

I pray and worry for Israel. Israel should expose this fraud of a President by systematically release any intelligence information, background information they have on Obama. And they know how to do it without pointing the finger back at them.

I don’t want to see Bibi lose the election and some Arab loving, weak-knee’d person take his place. Israel will surely fall to the Muslim world if that occurs. I’d rather Bibi remain as President and fight this battle another day, another way. If he has to back down a notch or two, then so be it.

The Republicans can not take criticism and bend before it.

Conservatives are divided at times and tend not to agree to gain their wishes bit by bit.

Obviously the media is essentially liberal/socialist.

God help America, in Jesus name, amen.

But bozo is out there right now saying how he differs with Bibi but Germany , UK agrees with him and now saying again he doe snot meet with leaders before an election.

I guess he forgot about India where he just was or his party meeting bibi;s opposition, or how about his old election team out in Israel going door to door against Bibi.

I want Bibi to lay it all out and put this lying sack of crap in the white house on the defensive and make the media question their messiah

You mean like the Dems and Bozo brought Mexico’s leader to denounce our immigration policy.

Dems don’t like the truth or facts.

“Can I ask a stupid question?
Congress is a co-equal branch of government.”

Well that’s just silly! Congress isn’t “co-equal” any longer. We have devolved into a “benevolent Marxist” dictatorship. I guess you didn’t get the memo!

As much as I hate to admit it, Bibi will soon fold on this like a wet dishrag, or Boner will rescind the invitation. As always, 0dumb0 & the hard core left liberal democRAT fascists put up a huge stink over this, and Repubs & so-called conservatives and Bibi, will fold & capitulate as they always do. Bibi is already watering down the speech and soon it will end up as nothing. And the liberal, left wing bastards & 0dumb0 will have won yet another battle. I’m sick of it!
