I was the pilot in command of the flight that carried Brian Williams into Iraq in March 2003.
The mission was to deliver bridges to the Objective Rams region in order to support our ground-force advancement. We were briefed that we would be operating forward of the line of troops and that the objective was unsecure.
We were a flight of two, and I was the rear aircraft. Our flight to Objective Rams was uneventful, with the exception of a desert dust storm that caused deteriorating conditions not suitable for flight.
We determined that we would not make it back to Kuwait as planned. When we arrived at Objective Rams, we found a US armor unit on the objective. There was also a CH-47 from the “Big Windy” unit out of Germany.
The CH-47 was already shut down, and the entire crew was no longer at the aircraft. We dropped off the bridges and landed next to the parked CH-47 and the Bradley Fighting Vehicles due to the weather.

I’m amazed that this dust-up with Williams has taken on the dimensions that it has. It isn’t that different than innumerable other cases. There has to be more to it. There must be a widespread reservoir of ill feeling that this springs from. There appears to be an antipathy in the press about Williams that has lain hidden from our view. This event has just given the excuse to attack.
One man’s dust particle is another man’s 30mm canon round.
Today many news sources are questioning his reporting on Katrina. He said he saw dead bodies floating down the river near his hotel. But his hotel was on high ground and didn’t flood.

Was that air disaster before or after Brian helped Al invent the internet? :-)
I don't give a crap if he's fired or not. I never watch their stupid "news" shows, haven't watched them in 25 years.
I hope they keep him. He's exactly the right symbol of NBC News, and all the rest of the lying, agenda driven MSM.
As Rush said yesterday, he's just a "narrative reader."

Exactly! When lies like these are told by someone in such a powerful position, you have to wonder how in the world that person could think they would get away with it. But people in the MSM tell lies every day. And the reality is that they normally do get away with it. Sure, the real truth comes out in the more conservative media, but it is routinely ignored, denied, dismissed, or mocked by the MSM and those on the Left. Brian Williams sincerely believed that he could lie and lie and lie, and it would never be a problem for him. The real question is: Why is Brian Williams NOT getting away with his lies NOW? Why are his lies even an issue? I seriously doubt that it is because those in the MSM have working consciences and desire the truth. Obviously he has some serious enemies in the media.
That dust was seared, seared into his eyes, and although he had Kerry’s magic hat, it did not protect him.
Newsreaders on television and Hollywoods’ twinkling stars share a common malady, despite all the fame and fortune, it’s never enough.

It was Brian Williams who replaced him at NBC. I bet Tom did not like it that a young punk was taking his job and now he is getting his payback.
