Original Title:NASCAR LEGEND AT NATIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST TELLS OBAMA “IF YOU DON’T KNOW JESUS, YOU’RE GOING TO HELL.”

SITTING JUST FEET AWAY FROM THE PRESIDENT, FORMER NASCAR DRIVER AND HALL-OF-FAMER, DARRELL WALTRIP, GAVE HIS CHRISTIAN TESTIMONY TO AN AUDIENCE THAT INCLUDED THE DALAI LAMA

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJV)

Waltrip said “If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior … you are going to hell.” Waltrip spoke about how Jesus transformed his life. He told the audience that before he was saved, it was all about him. “I did everything to satisfy me,” he said.

Then he was in a severe crash during a race and everything changed.

“I realized that wreck knocked me conscience,” Waltrip said. “It scared the hell out of me. I mean that literally. I realized, what if I had lost my life that day at Daytona? Would I have go to heaven or would I have gone to hell? I thought I was a good guy, but folks, let me tell you something: good guys go to hell.”

Not quite. We all go to GOD.

The question is, how long does one get to stay with God? Each person will be judged by God. Hell is by definition eternity without God. Many will go there. "Narrow is the path that leads to the Kingdom. Wide is the way that leads to destruction."

Why is it a “Lake of Fire”? Why not an Ocean of Fire?

Because the scripture called it a lake. Scholars go back to the original Greek in which it was written and study the words carefully. Your next questions will be about how those words are interpreted, whether the things said then still have relevance today, whether the words really were divinely inspired, and so on.

What are you really trying to say? Are you lost and wanting to know more about whether there is a heaven and hell? Do you know what will happen to you when you die? Are you sure?

The first COMMANDER AND CHIEF felt differently.

The General is sorry to be informed that the foolish and wicked practice of profane cursing and swearing, a vice hitherto little known in our American Army is growing into fashion.
He hopes that the officers will, by example as well as influence, endeavor to check it and that both they and the men will reflect that we can little hope of the BLESSING OF HEAVEN on our army if we insult it by our impiety and folly. Added to this it is a vice so mean and low without any temptation that every man of sense and character detests and despises it.

(Signed,) George Washington

Are you also in charge of what happens after you die? Do you have control over that? Who appointed you to that responsibility? How did you train for it? If you are not the one who gets to decide and you don’t like what the Powers That Be decide, what will you do about it? What if the Power says you can’t just lie there?

Really? You believe that there is a fire and brimstone Hell in the bowels of the Earth or elsewhere? This is why I got into a cluster with a religious fanatic earlier? You people actually believe that the entire unfathomable Universe is that simplistic?

As a Christian, I've come to understand that the universe has a central organizing power Who is well beyond our human ability to envision. His creation is as infinite in the microcosm, as we are now discovering scientifically, as it is in the macrocosm of space, galaxies, etc. What happens when a human actually admits to his or her probable size, scale of influence and scope of intelligence in such a vast system is to recognize that oneself is not the system designer, any more than a program on your computer is the inventor of itself or even the user of the computer.

Metaphorically, if you will, this degree of mathematical certainty of your relative scale in the face of infinity is called, on the down side, "being a sinner", as in "I am created by a Power greater than myself, and as such I am a reflection of the genius of my Creator, but I am still corruptible, and if I get out of line I can corrupt a lot of other data in my midst and possibly be deleted by corruption or by the user. I need a good System Operator to save me from destruction."

On the up side, the deep realization that you didn't create yourself and you can't control or even fully understand the system you are in can be the moment when you throw yourself on the mercy of the System Operator and say, "Christ, please save me. Keep me from destruction. I am corruptible, and have caused havoc in the system before. Please reprogram me and drive out the bugs so I can go on operating my unique functions." At this point you have what Christians call "the peace that passes understanding." It is the peace of faith in Christ and reliance on Him, and on the Word of God.

How do we get the Word of God? Many ways. Some discussed below.

So, since you're so sure how Hell looks like, please tell me what Heaven looks like.... Please tell me, I sincerely want to know.

It would surpass the ability of a mere human to describe it. What is more important is that you come to a faith in your Salvation from corruption and error. Then, you will not fear what may come next, and will welcome it, because of your faith. And to quote the scriptures I have come to understand as
Basic
Instructions
Before
Leaving
Earth,

...which may be regarded as the User's Manual, "Faith comes by hearing the Word of God."

You may hear the Word of God by reading the scriptures and recognizing that some of the language is history, some is common human experience and some is symbolic, but that through patience and study you can make at least as much sense out of it as your computer's User Manuals for the hardware and software.

Or, you can pray earnestly, with an open mind and heart to receive inspiration and understanding.

You can study what others have written, seeking out very good scholarship. You can ask questions, as you are now doing, and find sincere people who can reach you with respect to walk you through some of the "program."

Most important is to pray and ask God Himself for help, certainly appealing directly not only to the Designer Himself but also to Jesus Christ and to what is called, for want of a more precise term in your understanding, the Holy Spirit. (The Holy Spirit is everything from a divine version of a search engine or an accessible encyclopedia to an unseen remote help desk with wireless programming capability.) As answers start to come remotely, your individual device (self) starts to operate more smoothly. You didn't have to do it all yourself. You can just operate on the programming principles most of the time. When there is a glitch in the future, you will know how to access the help desk right away, before the corruption spreads.

I believe the Bible. I am curious about the reference to a Lake.

Everyone was well aware of the Oceans.

I think it’s very difficult—or impossible—intellectually to characterize the Lord Jesus Christ while ignoring the full meaning of his sacrifice.

Christ the incorruptible subjected himself to the total burden of all sin when he died on the cross. So that we can have the option of being saved from God’s wrath.

How can we call it just to forgive those who reject Christ? Injustice cannot be justice.

The honest man desires to believe that which is true. We all sort of operate on the assumption that we desire to believe the truth. But as Sir Francis Bacon once said, we prefer to believe that which we prefer to be true.

The God of the Bible is either a true proposition or an untrue proposition. As Dostoyevsky pointed out: if there is no God, everything is permissible. The temptation to want to be our own master is extremely powerful—we live in a deceptive garden of worldly pleasures.

It seems Freud never realized wish fulfillment applies equally to nonbelievers.

I believe, as well. I also see the language on many levels, so I try not to become absolutist over precise interpretations, since we didn't write it! God did, using human beings to carry out the physical manifestations.

Regarding the lake v. ocean: I'm just fooling around with metaphysics here, but a lake can be contained within a realm; but someone could ostensibly swim an ocean to another realm and beg for asylum!
