Republicans and Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee made a show of force Thursday to ramp up the pressure on President Obama to provide weapons to Ukraine.

"The United States must act with urgency to provide defensive lethal assistance to Ukraine," said Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the committee’s chairman.

After WWII, and when Old Joe Stalin demanded TWO votes in the UN (USSR + Ukraine) the US, UK, France and others said NO...the Ukraine IS the USSR.... No extra votes for you, Joe.

NOW we want to go and fight to separate them?

There is that minor issue of "training" to effectively use those weapons, too. How long would that take, how much would it cost, and who would do it?

If McCain is for it - I’m against it. Sounds like a total losing proposition.

This is the same senator who was photographed in Syria with members of ISIS, right?

I'm no fan of Putin, but Europe needs to handle Europe's problems. I see no reason why the US needs to contribute to a hot war with Russia.

Russia is strong enough to be a pain in the ass, but it is not all that strong. Germany, France and a few others can handle it, if they want to. And if they don't want to -- why should we?

General McCain make his demands.

And Obama will deny his demand.

The US should make arms available to Ukraine that we sell and finance to other friendly countries.

NATO is an alliance to defend us all from Russia, and no one is talking about a hot war with Russia, so why keep pretending that is the subject?

We have a dog in this fight because we don’t want to undo us saving the world from Russia, under Reagan.

Russia is conquering and attempting to territory on NATO’s borders, they are pursuing a path to become a powerful and evil empire again.

We have a treaty with Ukraine. We guaranteed protection if they would surrender their nukes. Ukraine gave the nukes up. America, under King Obama, the communists black Muslim traitor has decided not to honor the treaty. What does that tell one who King Obama is. A $^%$$##^& rotten piece of garbage.

No, we certainly do NOT have any such treaty. That’s a common misstatement. They got a verbal promise from Clinton. And that promise was never codified into a treaty, and never ratified by the senate.
And even had it been, it would be a treaty with the government of Ukraine, and not any band that got together and overthrew the Ukrainian government that made the agreement.

Foolish Ukraine gave up their nukes with just a wink and a nod from a grifter named Bill Clinton.

Ukraine has been ruled by Russian puppets until early last year, this is why Putin was so upset his toy poodle got booted by the Parliament.
