Jeb Bush: Denying Dreamers Accelerated Citizenship Is ‘Ridiculous’
Yahoo Finance, Fiscal Times ^ | 2/4/2015 | Rob Garver

With the Senate tied in knots over a House-passed bill that would fund the Department of Homeland Security while simultaneously blocking President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, a nearly two-year-old video was released that shows leading GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush explicitly contradicting a key Republican position on providing illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

First reported by CNN, the video shows Bush at an appearance at an event sponsored by the Hispanic Leadership Network in April 2013. Bush was asked about his position on a Senate immigration reform bill and, specifically, on offering citizenship to people brought to the United States as children -- commonly known as “Dreamers” after failed legislation called the DREAM Act that would have granted many of them legal residency.

“I’ve never felt like the sins of the parents should be ascribed to the children,” Bush says to the interviewer. “If the children always have to pay the price for the adults’ decisions they make – How fair is that? So, for people that have no country to go back to, which are many of the Dreamers, it’s ridiculous to think there shouldn’t be some accelerated path to citizenship. The [immigration reform] bill gets close to that and I think that’s great. And I think there is almost universal support for that.”

The statement puts Bush squarely in opposition to the efforts of Capitol Hill Republicans. One of the explicit measures that House Republicans attached to the DHS funding bill they passed is a ban on using any appropriated funds implement the president’s “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” program, known as DACA, which lifted the threat of deportation from illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children...

Past Bush immigration remarks shock conservatives

"It just seems to me that maybe if you open up our doors in a fair way and unleashed the spirit of peoples' hard work, Detroit could become in really short order, one of the great American cities again," Bush said then. "Now it would look different, it wouldn't be Polish...But it would be just as powerful, just as exciting, just as dynamic. And that's what immigration does and to be fearful of this, it just seems bizarre to me."

Jeb saying the urban residents of Detroit don't have that spirit of hard work!!

Paging Jeb Bush, Al Sharpton's on line 1. hehe

Not only deny the citizenship...deport them too.

Not only that. All illegals should be fingerprinted and have DNA taken before they are deported, so we can permanently deny them reentry and citizenship.

Not sure what Jeb Bush is trying to accomplish.

He is NOT addressing the issue of open borders, ignoring immigration laws on the books, ignoring the crime, diseases, terrorists, criminals allowed into our country. Citizens are witnessing our country being invaded, our culture being destroyed, and our tax dollars being misspent because our leaders choose to support open borders.

Jeb wants to serve tea and cookies to children of illegal aliens, while the ship of state is sinking. Fix the leaks please, get our ship of state back on course, then serve tea and cookies, Jeb!

It is too easy to serve tea and cookies and ignore the wishes of the majority of the voters in this country.

Every time Jeb opens his mouth removes him further and further away from being the nominee. I hope Walker is the nominee ....

What kinda of neighborhood does Jeb live in? I am betting he would not like these “dreamers” to live near him. I bet he employs - at substandard wages, some of these dreamers to do all the household chores and gardening.

Jeb Bush is ridiculous. Ann Coulter nailed it when she said “Three generations of imbeciles is enough.”
_________________________________________________________

In the same piece Coulter - the “single issue voter” (immigration) Ann Coulter - wrote that she hoped Mitt Romney’s exit from the 2016 Presidential Handicap was only temporary. You know, Mr. Mitt “Swallow Hard & Pass Full Amnesty” Romney. For her to label anybody else an imbecile is, well, imbecilic. Jeb Bush is a horrible option. But her reasoning for it - immigration stance, given who she wants to cram down everybody’s throats, again - makes you wonder if she’s even sober these days. Ann Coulter occupies Seat #1 in the Mitt Romney Clown Car.

The only acceptable circumstance for Jeb to be in the White House is to be on a public tour.

” I don’t understand the need to bash Jeb based on his family”

Hitler, Roosevelt, Clinton, Kennedy,,,, yes, the name tells us plenty. They want the advantage of dynasty, they pay the price of dynasty.

His name tells you the gang he’s part of. 100% of the Bush women have come out for every leftist program they can dream up, including abortion.
Honestly, I cannot think of a single redeeming thing to say about he Bushes back through history with three exceptions.

Bush and W were both military pilots. I salute that. I also salute George McGovern who flew a B-24 in the thick of the war. A also still think Bush would be a fine neighbor.

Beyond that their family has been a blight upon America since the 1920s at least.
Helping finance Nazis, god only knows what Bush the 1st did at the CIA, Jeb and Schiavo, then undermining Reagan, assault rifle bans, prescription health care, NWO, and I feel reasonably confident one of the earlier bushes was involved in the desecration of graves,,stealing skulls of Geronimo and Pancho Villa for a college frat.

They are quite literally a blight on America, and I will happily judge him on his name. Its up to him to disavow that hellacious legacy.

No Jeb, YOU are ridiculous and your position is a moral insult to the MILLIONS of LEGAL immigrants and what they did for their children, believing that their children earned those rights ONLY because there parents followed the law.

Jeb, if “dreamers” get advanced to citizenship, every mother’s son in the world will find some way to get into the U.S, illegally, so the “dreamers” among their children get the benefits Jeb wants to hand them.

ANY condition of amnesty will produce increased illegal immigration; negating - making useless, all the ideas that try to define and limit immigration by law.

“I’ve never felt like the sins of the parents should be ascribed to the children,”

Tell it to your shrink,,, because you are gonna pay the price for your family connections. Your name is toxic.

No, Mr. Bush you are the one who is ridiculous. You and your silver spoon life have no idea what real folks like me need or want in our government. Please get out of politics we don’t want any more of your family in charge.

Old Jeb is indoctrinated with immigration...he’s married to it.

But, he is NOT likeable. His “I’m entitled” smugness comes across as if he were wearing a neon sign on his head saying “it’s my turn”.

He looks grumpy, smug, and condescending when he speaks.

It’s a family dynasty rooted in sibling rivalry. If he gets the nomination, I will still vote - but not for him..I’ll be writing in Ted Cruz.

We don’t need another bush...we need a leader, with courage.

I want to avoid an American version of a caste system where one rises or falls based on their ancestry, though yes, if they ‘trade’ on the name then they are fair game.
