Make it easy for them to immigrate to the US and the payoff will be huge

So, should I invest now in Western Union or wait until Jebster is in? I mean, the "payoff" in fees for all the wireless transfers out of this nation "will be huge".

Ok, if you flood the USA with workers how are people going to work into their 70’s?

If we increase the number of young, productive workers in the country, there will be enough workers in the workforce to fill the demographic hole and support retirees at the current l retirement age of 65, especially if we bring in highly skilled, high wage earning immigrants.

“If you get the lazy and stupid off of social security disability(a scam) it would save the program. “

It would help, that goes without saying. But it does not save enough to address demographic tsunami about to hit this country. The numbers of Boomers leaving the economy to start recovering Social Security is just too huge.

“We need to stop ALL immigration and assimilate the ones we have now.”

True, we need to shut off the flow of illiterate, unskilled no english speaking third worlders who are not assimilating. However, bringing in high skill workers , many of whom have been educated in the United States to begin with, from places like the EU, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, China, India and South America requires very little in the way of assimilation.

“There is no labor shortage, it is simply a question of supply and demand.”

The United States currently has a shortage of high tech, high skilled workers and the coming retirement of skilled boomers will reduce the supply by a huge margin. I don't dispute that there a lots of people out of work, but there is a definite shortage of high skilled, highly educated workers, especially in the High Tech world. Fact is, that kind of talent has always been in short supply regardless of economic conditions.

“If wages go up people will get off their asses and work. But that can't happen in the human flood you propose. Your scheme does the opposite. It is like the medieval practice of bleeding, does nothing but kill the patient.”

We will soon have labor shortages unless the economy contracts correspondingly.

I disagree with your thesis that bringing in very high skilled, highly educated, highly motivated and entrepreneurial foreigners destroys wages. The Silicone Valley miracle was built in large part by the contribution of foreign expats from Asia, India and from all over the rest of the world. They created massive wealth and good paying jobs for a whole generation of Americans that drive our economy for a whole generation

And that's a fact.

After the Ponzi scheme target listed in option 4 peters out, their next step will be to reinstitute child labor to capture a new source of payroll tax revenue. In 10 years the annual interest payments alone on the federal debt will be $800 BILLION. Someone will need to pay it... because nobody today is running on any platform that states that the debt service in (pick a date) shall be $0.

Can he really be this tone deaf?

From a CNN article re the same speech...Other comments included that Bush declared that "it's not possible in a free country to completely control the border without us losing our freedoms and liberties."

Mister Bush and his advisers have no (no) idea of the Richter-10 magnitude, the bone-marrow-depth, and the unyielding, determined, resoluteness of GOPer and Indy voters' absolute opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens (including amnesty by all of its deceitful euphemisms including "dreamers" and etc.)

Mister Bush does not realize that this includes the bulk of members his erstwhile GOP party.

One word (and is offered politely about how he will fare in the primaries) for Mister Bush.

¡Adiós!

“In a few years time, if things stay the same, there will be less than 1 Full Time Private Sector workers paying into the system instead of the current 1.75 paying into the system for each Social Security recipient, which is obviously unsustainable.”

You have outlined the problem, however what you missed is that in the sixties and seventies folks were convinced that two children were enough. That would give us only one worker to pay into SS for each worker. It's a ponzi schism after all.

Yes, that is how we got into the demographic hole in the first place.

White, Middle Class America has committed demographic and political suicide and now we are facing the consequences of our demographic suicidal actions.

The only realistic way to deal with the problem is to increase the population to grow our way out of our economic and demographic disaster we have created for our selves.

The best way to increase the population is to import young, productive highly skilled and highly educated people from countries with a similar culture and values to maximize economic growth and facilitate assimilation.

I don't dispute that there a lots of people out of work, but there is a definite shortage of high skilled, highly educated workers, especially in the High Tech world. Fact is, that kind of talent has always been in short supply regardless of economic conditions.

Then why aren't wages thru the roof? I work as a software developer and my wages have been stagnant for over 10 years. And I am in the 'hot' area of Java web application development.

I know you are a shill for Jeb. It's ok but I hope you are paid.

In an effort to take you seriously I will try to explain what is really happening.

Labor is one facet to an economy, it's true. The less the labor supply the higher the prevailing wage. As far as I know wages are way down for everyone.

That aside, what we are really talking about is that the USA is becoming poorer every day, year in and year out. Why? It has to do with wealth creation. There is only three ways to create wealth;mine it,make it or grow it. Well due to the gloBULList trend we have off shored a huge portion of our manufacturing sector. Thus over a third of our country's wealth and all the multiplier wealth effects are gone. There were a lot of winners and a whole bunch of losers it that game. The mining industry is under attack and the coal industry which provided Appalachians with some wealth creation is gone too.

So how do we get our wealth back? First repeal the 16th amendment, barring that cut income taxes to the bone. Incorporate a Nation Retail Sales Tax(fair tax). But that doesn't get manufacturing back. What's need are strict importation rules and a tariff which would reduce the labor advantage that the third world has over US workers. I would start with a 5% tariff and continue to escalate until we reach a trade balance with that country. Prices would increase about 5% but so what. What we have now is an idled work force anyway. The last thing we need is to import MORE unskilled workers. You say unions would benefit, well union participation rate in manufacturing is at 10% and falling fast.

As for the skilled workers when you see wages really skyrocket that is when the Universities will start to see interest in STEM programs.

In closing you solution means a quicker death of the economy and the American way of life, so no thanks.

But what is happening is that they are bringing in techs from these countries and displacing higher paid Americans.

The majority of H1-B Visa recipients are for foreign students already studying in American Universities who have just graduated from school (and whose eduction here was subsidized, at least in part by American taxpayers) , often with a Masters or PhD, and who wish to stay here in the United States to become American citizens rather than go back home.

You may not be aware of this, but the majority of students pursuing advanced degrees at American Universities are from foreign countries. This is especially true for students in Science and Technical programs.

In my day, 80% of PhD candidates and over 50% of Masters students were from foreign countries.

We American citizens were way in the minority.

This foreign talent pool (most of whom are naturalized American citizens now), got their start here using the H1-B visa program to stay and work in this country and they created vast numbers of high paying jobs for not just themselves, but for many, many American citizens

Oh really? It is ok to have an opinion, but to state something as a fact with no backup is really not helpful here.

OK, so to name a few: Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Larry Ellison, Larry Page, Gorden Moore & Robert Noyce, John Clarence Carcher, David Hitz, Scott Cook and Tom Proulx, Ed E. Iacobucci, Leonard Bosack, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Bill Hewlett & Dave Packard, Jeff Weiner are foreign expats? Oh and I would be happy to provide many more names....

You say “that’s a fact.” Do you have any?

I won’t dispute that foreigners have made contributions, but your post seems to imply that foreigners are totally responsible for our tech industry growth, and you have provided no facts that support your contention.

HIRE AMERICAN!

I fervently hope that in the event this individual is foisted upon the United States as the Republican nominee for President, that GOP-E operatives are banned from this website.

No vote for Jeb Bush. Not now, not EVER.
