Nationwide was the most mentioned Super Bowl advertiser on social media — not for the right reasons

I am very sorry for your loss! I have four daughters; I could not even imagine the idea of losing one.

I think they hinted the little guy drowned in a bathtub or something. It was so depressing it was hard to keep track of it all.

Just a simple: “Don’t leave kids unattended when in pools or tubs”. Is it just me, or would you say that if you were trying to prevent accidents instead of trying to sell insurance?

I don’t like dance revues with singing as halftime shows. So I left at halftime.

Bring back the marching bands.

Somewhere, the ad team for Progessive is laughing. Those spots featuring Flo are irritating (to say the least), but at least she doesn’t kill your kid.

My personal favorite was the Doritos ad featuring the guy doing anything to prevent someone from sitting next to him on an “open seating” flight. When he finally spotted a cute blonde, he did everything to convince her to sit next to him, even waving his bag of chips. As she began to move towards the seat, another passenger steps out of the way, revealing the woman has an infant in a front-mounted baby carrier.

The lost puppy ad from Budweiser was cute, but I think they’ve overdone the “dogs-and-Clydesdales” routine. I also like the “Walter White” spot for esurance.

You’ve got to wonder how many heads rolled this morning at Nationwide (and their ad agency) for the “killed your kid” spot.

I agree. The Nationwide ad was cute. I still like the Clydesdales.

Flo was getting mysterious; maybe she’ll turn in a dark direction just to help Nationwide out of a tight spot.

That said “Nationwide...your kid just died” is clearly a topic of discussion at Nationwide today. Pete Carroll confessed to a stupid call. Nationwide doubled down.

Bet Pete survives longer than that commercial does.

Dang Nationwide could have saved a lot of $$ by taking my idea. All that was needed was to add the following refrain to the Payton Manning Nationwide commercials:

“Watching Super Bowl from my couch”

There sure are a lot of commercials for insurance on radio and TV these days. I’d much rather they use that money to lower their premiums and rely on good customer reviews and referrals to expand their business.

“The Viagra pill was probably the funniest. I agree. Bad thing is I don’t remember the auto.”

I know - I have no clue who did the commercial. It didn’t have a thing to do with their product I guess! So they blew 4.5 mil or whatever for nothing. Brilliant.

Imagine if a pro-life group had run a similar ad.

________________________________________

One time a pro-life group TRIED to buy SB airtime. To run a non-offensive basically generic commercial.

No Freaking Way. The NFL will promote commercials dealing with hot sex, queers, wife abuse, even death of a child (Nationwide). But pro-life?

Never.

The auto ad was for FIAT, or as some call it,
“Fix It Again, Tony.”
