Comparing murder rates and gun ownership across countries

I'd like to see a similar chart showing the homicide rates vs. gun ownership by state. I'd surmise that places like Texas (excluding the Mexican areas) and Oklahoma have low murder rates because guns are plentiful and, as has been well-documented, an armed society is a polite society. Plus those two states have a respect for Almighty God, the military, traditional marriage and the other foundational values of America.

I'd imagine the murder rate is through the roof in deranged places like Massachusetts, Oregon and other bastions of anti-gun liberalism. I don't have the actual statistics at hand but common sense does back up my contention.

That’s a depressing chart. I was hoping that by now the firearms ownership rate would be at least 200 per 100 people in the US. Maybe part of the problem with high murder rate areas is people who need the firearms don’t have them (poor and in high crime areas).
