Eli Jacks is too young to be vaccinated; his sister has leukemia Measles cases that have spread to Arizona have put the children at risk (CNN)Anna Jacks checks her baby's forehead over and over again. Is he hot? Does he have a rash? Is his nose still runny?
Her son has been sick before, but this time it's different: Last week Eli was at a Phoenix Children's Hospital clinic with a woman who had the measles, which spreads easily from person to person. Now he's showing signs of the virus, such as runny nose and cough and fatigue.
At 10 months old, Eli is too young to get vaccinated and would be especially vulnerable to serious complications of measles, such as deafness and brain damage or even death. But his parents have an even bigger worry. If Eli does have the measles, he could give it to his 3-year-old sister, Maggie, who has leukemia.
So far Maggie is feeling fine, but her parents know that with her immune system wiped out by chemotherapy she's even more vulnerable than her brother to complications.
"My biggest fear is that I'll lose my child, or that she'll become deaf," Anna Jacks said. "My family has been through enough with cancer. I don't want her to go through anything else."
Measles cases in California soar
According to Arizona health officials, the woman at the clinic who put the Jacks children in danger was herself infected by members of a family that doesn't vaccinate and got measles during a visit to Disneyland, where the outbreak began more than a month ago.
This week, Maggie and Eli's father, Dr. Tim Jacks, wrote a blog post in which he expressed his feelings to this family.

“Celebrate diversity’’, right? Most folks don’t realize that virus’s are really little living organisms that like every other living thing are programmed to defend themselves. Find a cure for one disease and it mutates itself into something else, something more resistant and stronger. Allowing millions of unvaccinated people into the country isn’t just a socio-economic problem, it’s a potential health threat akin to a ticking time bomb.
That is a real problem. The research my wife has done points to some potential major issues. Granted those issues are fairly limited in the scope of the population, but that doesn't mean we should completely ignore them.
Unfortunately, if you even ask questions you're labelled as "anti-science" or something similar. I don't think the vaccine thing is as bad as "climate change," but when it's verboten to even look into it as a possible issue, then you know there's a real problem with the system.

And once again the empirical evidence shows that indeed he is lying. There is no statistically significant link. If there was there’d be millions of autistic kids. There aren’t. Therefore, he’s lying. It’s very simple. Like I said, very simple logic destroy ALL the anti-vax arguments. They have chosen a path of willful and deliberate ignorance to excuse risking the lives of their children, and those around their children.
You are correct. I applaud your wife for doing the research. It is not just anecdotal evidence when time after time parent says, healthy baby before immunization, very sick child following immunization.

William Thompson a CDC scientist admits there is a problem and that the CDC has manipulated the test results. You reason that because there are not millions of autistic kids, the scientist-liar is lying. Talk about willful ignorance.
When my second daughter got some of her immunizations, she spent the next couple of days very sick, screaming, grabbing at her head like it was really hurting her. She’s had follow-on issues ever since. Are they related? I have no idea. Neither do the people who say we’re jumping at shadows.
But I’m sure it was all in our imaginations.
He’s said he’s a liar. The only question is when did he lie.
Trust your instincts and get additional information. Does your daughter still need additional immunizations?

This is regarding P. Thorsen, another CDC scientist. He has been indicted for Fraud, money laundering and stealing over a million dollars from the CDC.

Please use logic. Vaccines have a risk. No vaccine has a risk. Which is greater. I swear the anti vaccine and pro abortion people just want to kill lots of poor and minority kids. I’m in the south and white yet i am the racist. The more dead the bette to these fools.. Vaccines have saved a million more than they have harmed.

WOW! A lot has changed in a couple of years when last I got embroiled in a thread here about vaccinations. My wings were scorched, believe me!! BRAVO for your post and standing up for what you believe and BRAVO for the cardiologist who said it all in plain English!
We don’t demand that other people NOT vaccinate so I fail to see the freedom others take to condemn us for not vaccinating. They claim to be conservatives but would make vaccination MANDATORY! Now we’ll have the “herd immunity” crowd chime in if they haven’t already.
You take the same position that Pediatrician Dr. Robert Sears from CA has written about - BE INFORMED! He is not “ANTI-VACCINE” either but he does think parents should research first. Our daughter followed his recommendations about limiting the number of vaccines at one time, making sure the combination of vaccines was correct and spacing them all out and was lucky enough to find a pediatrician who agreed to do so.
That was a concession to my upbringing and hers when it was NO VACCINES at all - taking me through the ‘50’s polio epidemics. I wasn’t entirely comfortable with the choice but it was a choice for her and her husband to make. It wasn’t easy for her but she was comfortable after reading about Dr. Sear’s alternative schedules.
I don’t know why we can’t all respect other’s choices. Still waiting for the “herd mentality” to kick in.....

Are you nuts? There never will be a medical study on the harm done by vaccinations. You think the pharmaceutical industry and medical community would go along with such a study?
An even better idea and one they will NEVER DO is to compare statistics on - pick one, let’s say autism - vaccinated vs unvaccinated! That’s a simple one and could be done but will it? Of course not.

Medical reasons aren’t the only qualifier. Our daughter was able to attend public school through graduation in CA with a PERSONAL EXEMPTION - not medical. I don’t believe there are any school districts that don’t require complete vaccination records OR an exemption but not necessarily medical.
