A patient showing symptoms consistent with Ebola infection was being treated Thursday at the University of California Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
According to local Fox affiliate KTXL, the patient originally went to Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento before being transferred to UC Davis Medical Center Thursday morning. Dignity Health, which runs Mercy General, issued the following statement:
In coordination with the public health department and CDC, Dignity Health Mercy General Hospital has transferred a patient to UC Davis Medical Center, which is specifically equipped to care for patients suspected of having or diagnosed with Ebola as part of the public health departments preparedness plan.
Fox 40 reports that ambulances carrying other patients to the hospitals are being rerouted to other facilities, although patients currently being treated in the hospital are not being moved.

For the first time since the week ending 29 June 2014, there have been fewer than 100 new confirmed cases reported in a week in the 3 most-affected countries. A combined total of 99 confirmed cases were reported from the 3 countries in the week to 25 January: 30 in Guinea, 4 in Liberia, and 65 in Sierra Leone.
Case incidence continues to fall in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Guinea reported 30 confirmed cases in the week to 25 January, up from 20 confirmed cases in the previous week.
Good news! Less cases at the source of the outbreak should mean less cases arriving here.

I think this one has tested negative.
Really, all the publicity over people that return from Africa a bit ill is ridiculous.
Both suspected cases in Sacramento have proved negative. . . the one at UC Davis Medical Center, and the one at Kaiser South.

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
